Ouch! The Galaxy Note 8 gets scratched, burned, and bent on video

YouTuber JerryRigEverything is popular for his tasking durability tests that a multitude of smartphones have passed with flying colors though some have provided a shameful display.

And, of course, with the Note 8 being one of the hottest devices of the past few weeks (on par with the LG V30) it's only natural to see that Samsung's latest S Pen handset receive the JerryRIgEverything treatment on video.

As usual, a scratch, burn, and bend tests get demonstrated and, spoiler alert, the Note 8 passes all these fairly well. It would seem Samsung has made sure the Note 8 has no weak points, and even that it is chockful with sensors and various port openings, it hardly budges during the bend test, which is the norm for a well-built contemporary device.

Check out the video at the top and drop a line with your thoughts on the Note 8's durability.

JerryRigEverything once made, a fake ''scratch test'', to sabotage Note7, and all the media were happy to show it.

Technically speaking his picks were dirty and giving mixed results, his revised scratch test was uploaded shortly after. Personally I wouldn't test fire resistance on any electronics device with a battery installed, so that's my biggest issue with his testing.

That I struggle however his 'revised test' has no where near as many views as his failed one, and you know that video was cited like crazy

Not fake, erroneous. Fake implies intent. Once he figured out the issue, he corrected it.

Do you believe it was with no intent??? LOL Why on his video it didn't replicate ''scratches'' on the GalaxyS , then?:) (watch it again) Many journalists went to him and he confirm it again and again. He pull it back(corrected it) much later, when already the ''Note on fire'' case had started. So his plot was not needed anymore. Check the dates. This guy lost all credibility.

JerryRigEverything was so dumb , so he didn't even realize that with his first doctored test on Note7, he hurt not only Samsung(SKorea) as in was intended, but also Corning - witch is US Company. LOL

Wow very impressive. Seems like a really solid phone. Still putting mine in a case and using a screen protector.

I ordered a spigen clear case off Amazon. They are good protection for me but I'm pretty careful with my phones also. Sure there are stronger cases ou there.

Samsung phones scream nothing but quality all around. What happened last year was simply a fluke. No company has a 100% product release rate. NO ONE! Got my 8's on the 6th via AT&T. I don't like the gray, because its much lighter vs the Orchid Grey on the S8. The S8 looks better as far as color and size too. Black is the way to go. But I have a skin coming so its cool. The S8+ and Note 8 are very cool, just don't look as cool and swelty like its smaller sibling. The squared design is nice to hold vs the curvier S model too. The S-Pen hasn't changed since the Note 5/7, but the enhanced versions of the S-Pen features are welcomed. The camera is pretty neat. I still think the telephoto lens is a gimmick. But the way Samsung implemented it in the UI, it surely peaks the interest to take a 2X shot just to see. I set my camera to simply do both. I just have to remember to not be so close or to change back when I don't need it. Can wait to check out the dual OIS when I clamp it onto the bike for a ride over weekend. Its fast. Appears to be faster than the S8+. Bixby launches a bit faster and the camera does too. The quick launch on my S8+, when I first launch it, it is delayed. But then afterwards, it comes instantly each time, until I don't use it for a while. That's weird! But the curved idea is boring now. It was really cool on the S6 edge, but you can tell this design is at its peak because like flat, you simply cant do much with it. Just go ahead and curve all 4 sides and be done with it, because that is all that is left. Free stuff shipping on 9/25. Thanks Samsung. Good job on the Note for the most part. Surprisingly I like the S8 (not +) better. To me the S8 (not +) feels cooler in the hand and yes its obviously more managable vs larger siblings. As long as my fingers are, I do find myself sliding the Note up and down more. Not a deal breaker. But hopefully Samsung won't go taller. I think this is the max. Unless 6.4 can be made to fit the exact same width and height of the Note 8, please don't go bigger.

"I don't like the gray, because its much lighter vs the Orchid Grey on the S8. The S8 looks better as far as color and size too. Black is the way to go." Thought I was the only one that felt this way. Excellent review! Can't wait to get mine.

I ordered the Black but saw video's and it does show finger prints easily. I have a clear case it will be going into. I like the silver on the S8 I have also but not the Orchid Grey on the note so that is why I ordered the black. The Black looks great except the finger print issue. Some cool skins out there for the note also. Was tempted to get one. Should be getting my phone tonight. Have to make sure I register for the free stuff....

I agree with you on the zoom lens being a gimmick. Also Samsung desperately needs to bring back the old and better S-note, this new watered down version is crap! No link to action, no record drawing, etc, etc. I've no interest in downloading some dicey APK to get the old S-note back either.

What is the point of this test? Who in their right sense would pay top dollar for a phone and then burn or bend it? I cannot believe the number of views these dickheads generate with their torture videos.

Well after all some phones bend without trying. This shows that the phone will be safe in a pocket.

Because they make several times the cost of the phone in revenue per view.
