GFXBench confirms Snapdragon 810 SoC for the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL

A trip through the GFXBench benchmark site by the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL, reveals that the upcoming Windows 10 Mobile powered handset will feature the Snapdragon 810 chipset inside. While the SoC's model number is not explicitly posted by GFXBench, the latter does list the Adreno 430 GPU as being onboard, which is indeed the graphics processor employed on the Snapdragon 810 chipset.

The GFXBench benchmark run through for the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL confirms that the handset will feature a 5.7-inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. While the test shows 1.5GB of RAM and 14GB of internal storage on the model, previous rumors have the handset carrying 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native memory, which sounds more likely. The 20MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing snapper rumored to be on the handset, are confirmed by the benchmark test. The device might also come with an iris scanner

The Microsoft Lumia 940 and its larger screened sibling are expected to be the first two models to launch with Windows 10 Mobile pre-installed. This means that the units might not see the light of day until after the middle of September.

Thanks for the tip!

Simply, because of partnership between those companies. But i'm not sure about future if sd820 still hot like Indian curry(sd810), may those companies still fateful to Qualcomm anymore, let wait until 2016.

SD810 make a bit more heat than supposed and dont achieve top top performance but still its do more than enuf ( nothing slow down and the phone UI is even more smooth than the S6 ) Its also has the best GPU with best LTE band ect allready onboard. Only reason SD810 is not perfect are thanks to crappy stock arm core the custom core will solve this as they are quite similar to what was in the 805 but 64 bit instead of 32 bit.

People act like the SoC has problems when in reality the affect is quite marginal in real life. You can already see Youtube videos of people making 15 minute plus recordings in 4K with the SoC before heating up, which is on par with every other SoC on the market.

If you mean Sony it's not a good sample cause even the previous models got the same problem.

Let the overheating begin

At this point I hope MS has enough experience with high TDPs, I mean, the SP3 has a 15W (and more) processor and it throttled, they could use what they learnt there in this new phone.

Not a single DOA for M9 for all Telus in Canada. Not a single DOA for the LG Gflex 2 as well. So DOA? nope.

Another good reason not to buy a Windows phone Knowing MS they went with the 810 because it was cheap

What a NOOB you are! Qualcomm SOC features the most LTE band of all SOC maker ( wich make it a better choice for worldwide phone and if you dont want to be forced to make one model per region ) Qualcomm SOC also usually feature about the best GPU ( Wich is currently the case on the SD810 with one exception the 64 bit quad core K1 from nvidia who will never be on a smartphone anyway ) Also Qualcomm have a very good relation with most OEM and they wont destroy thats because the SD810 is a bit more heat producing than earlier SOC produced by them. So thats the real reason you noobie.

Nope, I don't think so. Availability of LTE still limit outside of US. 3.5g and 4g are more demand for worldwide market.

SD820 won't be ready when Microsoft wants it to be ready.

It's usually the other way, the SOC is ready but the OS is not ready for it.

even for super smooth windows os snapdragon 810 is a curse i think ms should go with 805 or 808 ....

940 xl is a phablet so less heating 940 is smaller so it uses 808 so its the right choice

Good to see someone with a brain Hound.Master. So tired of all those ppl who know nothing and talk. The SD 810 give the M9 butter smooth UI and all app NEVER EVER SLOW DOWN OR LAG. Also not a SINGLE one came back with overheating problem IN WHOLE USER from Telus in all the CANADA. So its time to stop drinking the propaganda coolaid.

It will slow down over time because Android lags over time.
