FxGuru MovieFX Director turns you into a full-blown action movie star

Last week, we showed you how you can become the star of your very own music video using nothing but your smartphone and a little imagination. Now, it's time to turn you into a full-blown action movie star! With the FxGuru MovieFX Director app, you can give your videos a colorful splash of big-budget Hollywood drama by applying a selection of big-bang special effects and cinematic filters.

The app gives you access to over 90 special effects, ranging from explosive action to grip-the-edge-of-your-seat sci-fi terror. You can easily take part in grizzly fairy tales full of ghosts, zombies, werewolves and skeletons, engage in visceral sci-fi warfare with mechs, nukes, and lazers; run from natural disasters like tornadoes and overgrown lizards, drive lighting-fast vehicles and pilot battle helicopters. There's tons of fun to be had with this app, and with the integration of HD video recording and a special compositing technology that makes the computer-generated effects seem more realistic than corny, you can rest assured the results will be presentable.

Although the bulk of the special effects on tap are paid-for, FxGuru generously gives you one random effect to try out for free every day. Thus, you can realize a surprise apocalyptic action scenario every day, which is a fun and rewarding experience on its own. The application is available for free on Android and iOS.
