Allegedly official iPhone 8 cases strike a pose

We've been seeing plenty of iPhone 8 dummies and third-party case makers' concept images lately, but a leakster on Weibo recently posted something else altogether - iPhone 8 cases which are claimed to be the official Apple wrappers for the phone. While we can't vouch for the validity of that claim, they do indeed feature Apple's usual microfiber lining, have the typical "Designed by Apple in California, assembled in China" slogan inside, as well as the Apple logo on the back, and are available in a bunch of flashy colors, just like the current crop of official silicone iPhone 7 cases. If you think Apple is beyond the colors shown here, just look at the palette of cases it sells at this very moment.

Knowing the Chinese accessory industry, though, these might very well be elaborate fakes, but in any case they should closely approximate the shape and size of the iPhone 8. We have a big cutout on the back for the rumored vertical dual camera, but not for an eventual Touch ID scanner, so if this case leak holds water, the finger-scanning system won't be on the rear, as some previous renders and dummies have inferred.

What's more, the case design suggests that we'll have a big power button on the right, just as expected, and a bunch of keys, like volume buttons and eventual mute switch, on the left. The top is uninterrupted, as it should be if the iPhone 8 is to sport an all-screen front with just a notch to house the Face ID sensors there. The original posting has seen been taken down, but plenty of other accounts have picked up and distributed those spy shots.
