Certification to run the
Huawei Ascend W1 over the CDMA pipelines in China was received by Huawei, which is not terribly surprising since it is the manufacturer's own backyard. The Windows Phone 8 model is expected to
strut its stuff at CES 2013 next month, and that comes directly from CEO Richard Yu.
The Huawei Ascend W1 is equipped with a 4 inch WVGA screen with a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro doing the heavy lifting. 512MB of RAM is on board with 4GB of native storage that can be expanded using the microSD slot. There is a 5MP camera on back with a front-facing VGA shooter for self-portraits. The battery inside is a 2000mAh cell and the unit does have NFC capabilities.
The Huawei Ascend W1 is available in blue or white and is expected to be priced at the equivalent of $240. After its launch in China, hopefully we will see the mid-ranger go on to other regions as well.
