AutoDesk 123D Catch app makes complex 3D models possible for anyone with an iPad and a few minutes
You know AutoDesk, right? The company behind the AutoCAD design software, which is a staple presence in architectural studios and car companies alike.
The pictures you take get sent to AutoDesk's servers, and the algorithm returns to you a beautifully crafted 3D rendering, which you can rotate around for the full perspective. Word to the wise from the app comments is that varied backgrounds help more than reflective surfaces.
Well, now you can do those 3D models of your gazebo to brag with without ever having to know it. AutoDesk's 123D Catch app makes complex 3D models possible for anyone with an iPad and few minutes time.
Bad part is that it is only for the new iPad and the iPad 2 for now, and there's rarely anything clunkier than grabbing pics with your tablet, but that's the price you pay for the free app. There's always the free online version for those who don't carry around an iPad, too.
