Asus rolls out ZenUI 4.0 for ZenFone 4 Max, but Android 8.0 Oreo is still MIA

Asus launched a few ZenFone 4 models back in September, but they had different versions of ZenUI despite the fact they all shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board. For example, the ZenFone 4 Max was running ZenUI 3.0 on top of Nougat, while the ZenFone 4 Pro and ZenFone 4 included a new version of the skin.

Even though Asus promised to provide ZenFone 4 Max users with an update that will bring ZenUI 4.0 to the smartphone, the company didn't say when it will happen. Today, Asus announced that it has commenced the roll-out of ZenUI 4.0 for ZenFone 4 Max.

Along with the new version of the UI, Asus included a couple of other improvements, such as support for VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi). In addition, the update brings Asus ZenFone 4 Max users enhanced double-tap gesture settings.

According to Asus, it will take about one week for the update to propagate to all ZenFone 4 Max devices, so if you don't get it immediately, you should wait patiently or head to Settings / About / System update to force the download on your phone.
