Remember the iPhone X? Apple just added one of the most iconic iPhone devices to the list of obsolete products. The iPhone X now sits just below the original iPhone SE on the list, meaning it's now part of Apple's history.

The iPhone X is now part of the Apple support page detailing services for Apple products after an expired warranty. It's been almost 10 years since the launch of the model back in 2017, and all support is now terminated.
Apple provides parts and services for a minimum of 5 years, and up to 7 years depending on availability, but all good things come to an end.
Owners of iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, and Beats products may obtain service and parts from Apple service providers for a minimum of 5 years from when Apple last distributed the product for sale. Service and parts may be obtained for longer, as required by law or for up to 7 years, subject to parts availability. Apple discontinues hardware service for certain technologically-obsolete products.

This means you'll need to resort to third parties, secondhand dealers, and shady back alley merchants if you want to get replacement parts and keep your iPhone X alive for a little longer. Which is a bit sad.

The iPhone X was a cornerstone for Apple. After using a very similar design for the iPhone 6, 7, and 8 series, the company was falling into stagnation. Rumor has it that Apple started developing the iPhone X way back in 2012, five years prior to its official release. And this development cycle paid off.
Apple removed the Home button and Touch ID and replaced it with Face ID. The iPhone X brought the first OLED screen in an iPhone and a new, bezelless, edge-to-edge design. Apple called the display Super Retina to emphasize the higher resolution.

The overall build was also premium with a high-precision-cut stainless steel frame and glass back. The iPhone X was another revolution, one that cost $999, the most expensive iPhone to date back then.
And even though competitors heavily mocked the "notch," almost a decade later Face ID continues to be the industry standard for biometric authentication.

This milestone makes me a tiny bit sad. I've never been a true Apple fan, but there are a couple of iPhone models I admire and love. The iPhone 4, then the original iPhone SE, and the now-obsolete iPhone X.
I honestly believe that Apple has fallen into another long streak of boring devices, from the iPhone 12 series all the way to the latest iPhone 17 lineup. The company changed a couple of things with the latest generation, but it still feels like an afterthought, not a new and original design.
