Apple iPhone selling like hotcakes on T-Mobile, half a million in less than a month
T-Mobile has been the only one of the four biggest U.S. carriers to not have the Apple iPhone, but this changed recently with the unveiling of T-Mobile’s UNcarrier initiative. Now that T-Mobile has finally gotten the iPhone, it is selling like hotcakes.

In just around three weeks since it became available, T-Mobile already sold half a million iPhones. Given the fact that T-Mobile is the smallest of the big four US carriers and the fact that the iPhone only launched on April 12, that’s a pretty impressive number.

We have heard T-Mobile blame the lack of iPhone for bleeding customers in previous financial recaps so this will definitely help. Moreover, getting the iPhone on the carrier is quite a deal right now as it costs much less compared to other carriers that tie you into a two-year agreement.

This device could only help Tmobile. The iPhone is a solid device, and remains very popular. And when it's time to upgrade, it's resale value is generally the highest.

I totally agree. There were a lot of customers waiting for the release of the iPhone and they finally are able to get what they want. A win for T Mobile, Apple, and the purchasing customer. Now all we need at T Mobile is an iPad with HSPA+/LTE support. Can't wait to get my hands on that!

...I cannot...believe...what I am hearing...a comment on the iPhone that was positive and actually thumbed up? Mind=Blown. I've rejoined PhoneArena to mark this occasion.

Took a break from PhoneArena because instead of having actual discussion, folks were doing Team Edward vs. Team Jacob when it came to smartphone makers. But this post made me sign back up!

T-Mobile is zero subsidy now, so they're not making the same mistake that Sprint did. The onerous terms and the silly price Sprint paid are killing them.

Completely agree with this. While it took the longest of the big US carriers to get the iPhone, they didn't sell out in doing so. Sprint's move was more desperation that won't pay off for some years. Not to mention, Sprint's network was not even close to handling the iPhone. I was on Sprint and my data was pathetic after they sold the iPhone. I haven't seen that on T-Mobile now that I'm on their network.

T-mobile has a $70 subsidy on the iphone 5. Apple sells it for $650 unlocked. T-mobile $580. If you buy it upfront, T-mobile will unlock it after 40 days. If you choose to finance it, you can have it unlocked once it is paid off.

I understand your logic of a $70 subsidy, i.e., from the standpoint of the consumer, but from T-Mobile's point of view the subsidy is certainly lower as it would not be paying $650 for a phone it's selling at $580.

If you don't need unlimited data get the $30 plan and an unlocked phone. You will save boatloads of cash. For 2 years you will pay only $720 for the plan and get 100 min of talk, unlimited text and 5gb 4g + unlimited 2g.

When you go into bed with apple only one comes out on top, apple. Apple is the only company that makes money off apple. Seriously ask sprint and see how the iphone deal helped them, it didnt http://money.cnn.com/2012/02/08/technology/iphone_carrier_subsidy/index.htm

sprint made a bad call getting iphone couple of years ago taking a huge hit to get a contract with apple. I am really questioning sprint's management. iphone only made things worse for sprint customers. they got rid of 12 month upgrade and made it into 22 months and then made it into 20 months, slow data etc etc etc. it just cant get worse for sprint at this point. I think since tmobile merged with metro, the will soon taking over the 3rd spot with good management.

I would had enjoy getting one. However, it's the T-Mobile variant, without Wi-Fi calling. No Wi-Fi calling, no deal. With T-Mobile spotty coverage it's essential to have the feature on your device.

There are wi-fi calling apps dude. Do some research.

Dude if you don't know what you are talking about don't make a comments, is not the same. T-Mobile Wi-Fi is baked into the OS, using your mobile number. In essence allowing you to text, voice, and make free phone calls from overseas.
