Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 rolling out now in Europe

Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 rolling out now in Europe
Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy S5 should be excited to hear that the European version of the handset (model number SM-G900F) is now receiving an official OTA update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. At the moment, the update is being rolled out in Poland, and, according to Sam Mobile, is expected to show up soon on handsets in other regions across Europe.

The Galaxy S5 is Samsung’s first device to be updated to Lollipop - receiving it before the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition (which, being a GPE device, should have normally gotten it first). Unfortunately, we can’t say exactly when the update will be released in the US, as its availability depends on carriers - as always. Hopefully, most Galaxy S5 users in the US will be able to update their device before the year’s end.

The Galaxy Note 4 should be the next non-GPE Samsung handset to receive an official update to Lollipop, though it’s not clear exactly when this will happen.

We’ve already seen what Android Lollipop on the Galaxy S5 looks like, but, in case you missed it, there are plenty of screenshots in the slideshow below.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S5? If yes, when do you think yours is going to get Android Lollipop?

Does your brain work? You expected it look like pure Android? Do you expect Lollipop on HTC One and LG G3 look like Nexus, too? Dear PA, I have no idea why this kind of comment has become popular in this site. Please tell these people to update their brains before commenting anything.

Good to see that Samsung releases Lollipop so quick. Lets see how stable the build is after so few time to adjust it. I don't know what other forum members think, but even though touch wiz is certainly rich in functionality, I don't think that it looks premium.

I prefer stock over CM too. The ROM with least bugs!

Haha. You'll wait forever man. I doubt my Note 10.1 (2014) will get it even. The only reason I'm putting up with this lag-infested piece of crap is because there's no better alternative for a stylus tablet (I use it in school).

Samsung has always been speedy with their updates, but this is very fast! It just further proves that Samsung is not the one to blame for slow updates

But that's not applicable to the low end and mid range Galaxies.

Awesome! I think this is Motorola's doing, as they were the first manufacturer to really get on top of their updates, which sparked the other manufacturers to do the same...

Oh yeah tototally. Between the Android OEms themselves, innovation will continue. Even if the Android OS becomes a monopoly, you still have very serious competition between the OEMs that use Android.

So Motorola gets the credit for this update too ? Wake up dude, Samsung gives one of the fastest android update since this the S2 days Motorola has got nothing to do with it. Not to mention Samsung gives much-much more features then Motorola. Give credit when its due.

Didn't he just give them props? He isn't wrong, Motorola has beaten even Google to the punch a couple of times (Back with the original Moto X, it got Kitkat before the Nexus 4 for example.) But still, it's really impressive how fast this update was, considering all the optimizations Samsung had to make with Touchwiz. Props to ya Sammy!

I am pointing out the fact that Samsung has speedy updates since S2 and Motorola only earned this title of speedy updates since Moto X came to the scene which was released in late 2013. So Samsung's speedy update has nothing to do with Motorola at all. Motorola may have influenced other OEMs such as LG but Samsung has already been pretty good with updates.

He's just an attention seeker. You can't really expect him to talk sense or even talk as an adult. By replying him you're only giving him more attention which he wants.

If you expect Lollipop being about visuals you are wrong. Lollipop is about under the hood (art runtime, 64bit capabilities, power saver etc.). Visuals you can made now with a lot of 3rd party aps. or even Google aps. and running KitKat or JellyBean.
