Yesterday Google updated Android´s official website, which immediately led to speculations that the change was due to the soon to come Android 2.1. According to AndroidandMe, the new OS edition will roll out at about the same time when the new terms and conditions for using Android Market become effective, i.e. from December 11 onwards. The rumor also has it that the Motorola DROID and HTC DROID ERIS will be among the first handsets to get updated to the new version of Android on the above-mentioned date.

But this is not all. There are also speculations that new functions are coming to the online application store at the same date - customers will be able to pay for purchased programs via their carrier as well as a software client that allows access from a normal computer.
