Amazon Echo Show and Echo Dot are both on sale for a limited time
Almost two weeks after unveiling the revamped Amazon Echo, the Amazon Echo Plus and the Amazon Echo Spot, a couple of older Echo devices are being made more affordable. The Echo Show, which features a 7-inch screen, and the Amazon Echo Dot are both now on sale. The latter resembles a hockey puck on steroids. Both smart speakers are on a sale for a limited time only.

The Echo Show's 7-inch screen allows you to make/take hands-free video calls, allows you to watch videos, and see song lyrics from Amazon Music. You can even monitor the baby's room after installing cameras. With eight microphones on board, the Echo Show hears you no matter where you're standing. It can even hear you while music is blasting in the background. Normally $229.99, you can save $30 or 13% and pay $199.99 for the Amazon Echo Show. The device can be ordered in black or white.

The Amazon Echo Dot is normally $49.99. With the sale, Amazon will part with the device for $44.99. That $5 discount amounts to a 10% discount. Like the Echo Show, the Echo Dot can be bought in black or white.

Both devices are equipped with the Alexa virtual personal assistant which allows you to "play music, control smart home devices, make calls, send and receive messages, provide information, read the news, set alarms, read audiobooks from Audible, control Amazon Video on Fire TV, and more." Alexa has had a tremendous 2017 and the personal assistant can now be found on some smartphones like the HTC U11 and the Huawei Mate 9.

Amazon created the smart speaker category with the original Amazon Echo. At the time, Amazon had the field all to itself. Now, there is competition from Google (Google Home, Google Home Mini), Microsoft (Microsoft Invoke), Apple (HomePod), Sony (to be announced) and Samsung (also to be announced).
