Meta Connect this week was, for XR (Extended Reality) enthusiasts, a fantastic event. The Ray-Ban Gen 3 and the new Ray-Ban Meta Audio are the newest smart glasses being offered by the company, and somehow they weren’t even the stars of the show. That honor fell to the Meta VR Glasses.
Regardless, the new Ray-Ban models will be very welcome, as continued demand shows that consumers are in love with Meta’s smart glasses. The Ray-Ban Gen 3 take the concept even further and the Ray-Ban Meta Audio are perfect for people who don’t want to carry around a camera on their face at all times.

Meta took the existing Ray-Ban smart glasses, added an extra hour of battery life, made them slimmer, more comfortable, and included a new action button to round it all off in an excellent package.
The Meta Ray-Ban Gen 3 are available in 27 color and lens combinations and Zena and Aviator will be joining the popular Wayfarer model. Meta also boasted about how the microphones on the Ray-Ban Gen 3, six of them, eliminate most background noise even in very loud environments. Zuckerberg emphasized how the glasses pick up your voice better than any earbuds do.
Soon, the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses will be able to capture videos with Dolby Atmos for spatial 3D sound. While a good stereo setup usually achieves the same result, this will nevertheless be a strong selling point for people who swear by Dolby Atmos.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio smart glasses
This new lineup of glasses is tailored to people who don’t want to carry around something that has a camera inside it. It’s kind of a way for some customers to get the smart glasses experience without being associated with the people who have used them to secretly record people in public, which has become a heated debate online.
In the same Ray-Ban style, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses come in stylish frames with all of the functionality of the Ray-Ban Gen 3, but without a camera. If you thought having a light indicating when the glasses are recording wasn’t enough, then the Ray-Ban Meta Audio might be more up your alley.
These glasses also allow you to converse with AI, take and place calls, and listen to music. Once again, Meta emphasizes how the microphone setup on these glasses captures your voice better than on standard earbuds.

Some time back, Meta announced new smart glasses under its own name, forgoing the more expensive models designed by Ray-Ban and Oakley. There was also a pair of Meta glasses by Kylie Jenner.
Building on that, Meta is announcing two new styles — Capri and Nova — to join its existing Adventurer and Fury models. But that’s not all, Meta has partnered with Kylie Jenner once more, as well as another very famous name.
The Meta glasses by Kylie are picking up a new colorway, Ivory. In addition, Meta has partnered with Lisa of K-Pop group Blackpink and announced the Meta Adventurer Lisa Edition and the Meta Fury Lisa Edition which come with collectible case charms and digital photocards. All of these models start at $399.

The comparisons to earbuds and the collaborations with famous stars aren’t just for show. Meta is tired of waiting for smart glasses to overtake smartphones and is now on the offensive.
As a strong proponent of XR, I could not be more supportive of this cause. The only problem I have, personally, is that it’s Meta pushing for smart glasses. And after what happened last time, I’m still not completely sold on Meta’s products.
