Alcatel Idol 5S spotted again with 5.2-inch FHD display, Android 7.0 Nougat

Alcatel usually has a strong presence at Mobile World Congress, but this year, TCL, the Chinese company that owns the brand, did not announce anything impressive other than the BlackBerry-branded KeyOne smartphone.

Perhaps TCL has so many projects underway that there's no time to launch them all at once, or maybe it's a strategic decision to allow some time between new devices.

However, we do know for sure that TCL is likely to announce a brand new mid-range smartphone very soon, the Alcatel Idol 5S. We've talked about it back in February when the handset was spotted at Geekbench, but now we have more details related to specs.

Since GFXBench, another benchmark app that stores performance tests and partial specs lists of unannounced mobile devices, reveals additional info compared to Geekbench's database, we're now in the position to tell you more about the Idol 5S.

So, we already know the Alcatel-branded smartphone will be equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory.

We've now learned that Alcatel Idol 5S will sport a 5.2-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution and that it will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.

Moreover, the smartphone is listed with 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Some of the information might not be accurate, so take the camera-related details with a pinch of salt.

We have yet to learn the phone's battery capacity and whether or not it will pack a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, we don't see significant improvements over the Idol 4S specs-wise.
