AT&T confirms the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, forgets to provide launch details

There's no doubt that Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is real and that it will make its debut in the United States pretty soon. We've been able to learn everything there is to know about the rugged smartphone, but not when it will be launched.

AT&T is still mum on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active's availability, but the carrier made a mistake earlier today and confirmed it would start selling the smartphone soon.

The unannounced rugged handset appears in a new promotion that offers customers who switch to DirecTV and buy a Galaxy S8 with AT&T's Next plan, a $500 discount on their next Samsung TV purchase.

At the bottom of the webpage, there's a FAQ that explains which phones are eligible for the promotion, as well as other information about the deal.

Well, it appears that to benefit from the promo, you'll need to upgrade or add a new Galaxy S8/S8+ or Galaxy S8 Active purchased on AT&T Next or AT&T Next Every Year.

So, even if AT&T admits that it will carry the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active at some point, it overlooks one important aspect that many consumers may be interested in: the launch date.

If the Note 8 doesn't offer a substantial photo experience over this, then I think I may end up getting this device. I think the combination of the tough exterior and higher battery capacity have me going for this.

I love the Active series of phones. I wish Samsung would release them unlocked or bring them to other carriers.

Nice to have the option. I'm on Verizon, so I don't get that choice.

"AT&T confirms the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, forgets to provide launch details" AT&T forgot or deliberately omitted the launch details of the G8 Active?

AT&T has changed their website and removed the words: "or S8 Active". So does that annul the S8 Active? What Samsung smartphones are eligible? You must upgrade or add a new Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ purchased on AT&T Next or AT&T Next Every Year with eligible postpaid voice and data wireless service. If you are a new customer, it is a minimum of $50 per month on a new wireless plan. You may also add the smartphone to your existing plan if it is eligible. Note an up to $25 activation fee and other charges may apply.

Galaxy S8 Active: $849.99 or $28.34 per month. Seems to be currently available for purchase on their website.
