Samsung Galaxy S7 to have a version of Live Photos called Vivid Photo?

Samsung Galaxy S7 to have a version of Live Photos called Vivid Photo?
The Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus both have a feature called Live Photos that Apple added with the release of its latest handsets. The one and a half seconds before and one and a half seconds after you press the shutter on the camera are recorded on video. The result is that by pressing hard on a picture using the feature, the image seems to come to life.

A report published today indicates that Samsung is planning on adding a similar feature to its upcoming flagship phone. While the feature is being developed for the Samsung Galaxy S7, it might not be ready when the phone is shipped and could end up being included in a future software update. The Galaxy S7 is expected to be unveiled on February 21st during Samsung's Unpacked event. This will take place the day before MWC 2016 opens in Barcelona.

According to the report, Samsung will name the feature Timeless Photo or Vivid Photo. Unlike Apple's Live Photos, Samsung's version won't include audio. This will allow Galaxy S7 users to share their moving pictures on Facebook as GIFs. Facebook is in the process of rolling out support for Live Photos on its iOS app.

Thanks for the tip!

Samsung had this since S4. It was called animated GIF. This is just renaming.

You can download it in your galaxy phone by camera > mode > download andinstall the animated GIF module.

well not exactly.... this is a still image that shows video prior to and after the initial capture... just like Zoe was... a gif is a bunch of stills that just replay over and over again... the cool thing about this is that it can be on all your photos and adds a deeper element to it i loved this feature on my HTC one. I like that its becoming mainstream now because i want to be able to send them through a regular MMS and someone be able to see the "Live" aspect of it.

Wow dude lmao in almost a years time since I've had this phone, I never knew the s4 had that feature. You think this was a precursor for apple using live photos?

"Wow dude lmao in almost a years time since I've had this phone, I never knew the s4 had that feature."

Just-as many are unaware of many jailbreak and android features...

"You think this was a precursor for apple using live photos?"

That's the explanation of many jailbreak and android features appearing on their stock device. They deeply explore features in the jailbreak/android community, pick a few and advertise them like no other, making illiterates aware of the feature...nothing wrong with that, always good to have options and competition.

Just irritating how hypocritical they can be, suing others for what they themselves are just-as guilty of, and having websites like iPhonearena here supporting such acts by falsely crediting stolen features as their own.

Apple implements Zoe Capture from HTC and calls it "Live Photos" > no iPhonearena headlines

http://phandroid.com/2015/09/09/iphone-6s-new-features-vs-android-phones/

Samsung implements the same thing and calls it "Vivid Photo" > iPhonearena credits it as apple's original idea...

Old news.

Where's the "iPhone 6s comes with it's version of Zoe Capture" headline? Or why not name this Samsung's version of Zoe Capture instead of Live Photos? Oh right, it doesn't matter when it's apple borrowing the idea...

Lol! You need a headline? You're just nitpicking because you're too coward to admit that your Samsung is having the "same" feature which was done right by Apple. Apple implemented = others will follow. Byeeee!

Nothing more nitpicky than iphonearena falsely crediting stolen features as apple's origniality.

"feature which was done right by Apple"

Yeah, when apple copies it, it's done right even though they changed nothing besides the name...typical iHypocrite.

I think he's looking for an article on Apple Live Photo that shows that the feature already existed, not just an article about that talks about HTC Zoe.

Since his comment clearly says "HEADLINES" and the first sentence in this article about Samsung adopting the iphone 6 and 6s's feature. Is there an article on the Iphone's 6's Live Photos that mentions HTC Zoe?

Better yet, why does the HEADLINE of this article refer to Samsung using a feature from the iphone and why does it not say Samsung is using a feature from HTC?

Your response doesn't answer the actual question in any way. But, you call it "BS."

See, this stuff is what gives Samsung the reputation. Its their TIMING. Galaxy S7 to feature 3D touch and live photos...Apple didnt do it first but now Samsung is going to do it just because apple did it and market the hell out of it.

I like Samsung but this makes them look like a cheap "me too!".

Sure the feature is not new to smartphone, I had the camera app on my z1 and z3 compact as well, but lets be honest its much user friendly on the iphone 6s, I bought and used the 6s+ for weeks before I gave to my dad and went back to z3c. Now can anyone tell me why samsung feel the need to "reintroduce" the same tech again?

Apple indeed "reuse" many older tech features and made them popular again, other companies follow soon after. My question is how come none other companies feel the needs to go refine/retune/reuse old tech like Apple does? Why ignore some years old tech and stop paying attention to the details? We are at the age where real innovation only come once so often and the only way to stay ahead is exactly what Apple is doing. Now I'm pretty sure Samsung will ditch the head phone jack just because Apple is going to. Please correct me if I'm wrong
