Press shots of the Samsung Epic Touch 4G leak with the September 9 date on the homescreen
Samsung Epic Touch 4G date on the leaked pictures is set at September 9 on the homescreen, which might mean hitting the shelves officially on that day, 10 days after the announcement. This 9/9 date also suspiciously coincides with the rumored ETF hike from $200 to $350 for "advanced devices" which will be activated on or after September 9.
Finally, after the February announcement and April availability worldwide, Samsung seems to have ironed out the kinks with the US carriers, and a Samsung Galaxy S II release on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile looks imminent. The launch event got postponed by a day because of the hurricane, but tomorrow all systems should be a go.

Finally is right, but I wonder how many buyers will care that the keyboard isn't there anymore. The original Epic had one of the best physical keyboards of 2010, and even today, but most of all it helped to differentiate Sprint's Galaxy S from others
Part of me wishes they'd found a way to add a keyboard to the GS2 & slim it down a bit to lessen the keyboard's effect on bulk. Otherwise, all 3 GS2s look remarkably the same

Ok, here I go. The Epic has a 4" screen, the touch has 4.3". The epic has a keyboard, the touch doesn't. The Epic has a single core hummingbird processor, while the touch has a dual core Exynos 1.2 ghz processor, the Epic has TouchWiz 3.0, while the touch has TouchWiz 4.0. The Epic's battery is 1500mah, while the touch is 1950 (close to 2,000). Not to mention the overall experience is going to be pretty bad ass lol.
Oh and it is thinner AND lighter than any other phone out right now. :)

You forgot the Epic 4G has an Super AMOLED screen, & the Epic Touch 4G has a Super AMOLED+ screen.

Yeah, I suppose I did!!! I wasn't sure if the LED screens were different or not. Its definitely going to be the phone I'm getting.

Let me tell you something, if you get that phone you will be stacked & VERY happy. That phone is going to be relevant for at least the next year. You will have a great time with it. I just overclocked my HTC Evo 3D to 1.8 GHz (it's as fast as lightning) & I can't imagine overclocking the Samsung Galaxy S II. I just can't wait for CM7 & MIUI to come out for both the HTC Evo 3D & the Samsung Galaxy S II. Dj21o you just can't go wrong, it's great choice for your next phone!

oh ok...... i get it lol!!! so its just like all the other phones that are comming out with android ok...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dj21o touchwiz 3.0 thats great... MIUI is super great i like developers version of android better fatory sucks and ill most likely over clock my phone

Its not really like the other phones. I, personally prefer Samsungs UI, rather than sense or AOSP, or even the new Motorola Photon. I've revamped 3 Android phones with hacking and customization, but I really want to keep this bad boy stock and running smoothly, but with just underclocking the phone when the screen is off. That's really all it needs, IMO.

Guess I'll settle for the Epic 2, even though it has lower specs. Yeah, the GS II is nice, but I REALLY do require a physical keyboard. Just my preference.

do you think its better than the motorola photon and what do you think the price will be for this epic 2

motoblur is beat. hopefully the new touchwiz is better than last. it the gsII is a little faster and had a nicer screen. probably be $199 on contract

Does anyone have an idea if sg2 is going to be strictly 3g for the three related carriers or is it going to support each carriers idea of 4g, I.e. sprint wimax, tmobile hspa, etc....
21. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4749; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
I know the Sprint version will be WiMAX 4G. I know the T-Mobile version will be HSPA+. The AT&T one I am not so sure, I don't see why the AT&T version shouldn't be HSPA+ since the T-Mobile version is going to be HSPA+. I hope that helps you out!

Thanks super that helped. I always respected your respectful and humble posts. I know you love your evo 3d my issue is my verizon contract is up now I'm thinking of going to sprint because of their better plans. The question is how is their service and is it worth it to wait for the nexus prime, iphone 5 than compare those along with sg2 take it from there. My droid 2 is durable but it is pretty laggy at times and has glitches not sure if sg2 or nexus prime will have similar issues.
