Old HTC Butterfly updated to Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. Droid DNA to stick with 4.2.2 until KitKat arrives

HTC’s original Butterfly smartphone is seemingly getting an official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update starting today. The news comes form HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, who posted a screenshot detailing the 4.3 update on Twitter.

As in the case of the newer Butterfly S, which received Android 4.3 in December, the update also brings sense 5.5 UI to the old Butterfly. Other novelties that you should expect include BlinkFeed enhancements, improved music channel, and an enhanced imaging experience. The update, ROM version 3.15.707.4, is a 500.58MB file, so you’ll probably want to download it via Wi-Fi.

LlabTooFeR also reconfirmed that Verizon’s HTC Droid DNA would not be updated to Android 4.3. Instead, it’s going to jump to Android 4.4.2 KitKat directly. Until that happens, the DNA will remain on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Speaking of KitKat, it’s not clear if the original Butterfly will get it. But let’s hope it will!
