LG G4 leaks in all of its glory

LG G4 leaks in all of its glory
A major leak has taken place out of South Korea where images of the LG G4 have apparently leaked. In some of the pictures, the phone looks to be dressed in leather, an option that LG hinted at in the invitation it sent out for the April 28th event at which the handset will be unveiled. Besides leaking a number of pretty good looking photos, some of the specs of LG's new flagship phone are mentioned.

For example, the leak from Korea says that the LG G4 comes with a 5.5-inch "Quantum" display. No surprise there. The screen should feature a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The leak also mentions that the LG G4 will carry a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8. Considering that LG has already confirmed that the rear camera on the unit would be a 16MP snapper with an f/1.8 aperture, this could be a red flag. In fact, we should take this opportunity to remind you that now would be a propitious time to head to your spice rack and grab that grain of salt that you should take this story with.

The tipsters in Korea also say that the LG G4 will come out of the box with Android 4.4.2 pre-installed instead of Android 5.0. This would seem to be very strange for a brand new flagship phone. To fill in some of the blanks, a GeekBench3 GPU test recently confirmed that the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU will running the show, and an 8MP camera will grace the front of the device. One of the leaked pictures shows that the handset will be powered by a removable 3000mAh battery. The LG G4 will be available in metallic black, silk white, shine gold, burgundy red and moon violet. And of course, there is the leather back option.

While the specs might seem a bit off, the images look devine. Check them out by clicking on the slideshow below. Before you do, we should mention that the original site that these pictures came from has been taken down.

Well, from GSMArena leaks, it told that the battery cover is using "genuine leather". I don't really know what that means, but AFAIK at least bit of real leather is used to make it???? CAPTAIN, HELP???

Probably meant synthetic leather (which is still fake leather though) instead of the plastic with leathery feel like they used on the Note 3.

Also fake leather is usually used in football boots because its more durable

And there were people with complaints about the Moto X's leather back being not durable enough

Good design Lg. Keeping sd slot is good although removable battery for me is not a must. Longevity is much important. Now will wait for Z4.

If you own leather shoes or a watch with a leather strap. You can't say a thing about this.

this is not a very good argument. His argument is that the less killing the better. Way to blow it into a s**tty strawman.

The animal will die whether we kill it or not, all things die, hell we even used human skin for products before like books. The thing we should be concerned about is their living conditions not whether or not we kill them.

Synthetic leather/Pleather is welcome. As long as it's not plastic molded BS like Samsung phones. Synthetic leather is much more durable, anti creek, and cheaper than animal hide.

It's probably synthetic leather, which is still fake leather, but still above the leathery plastic on the Note 3.

Yes, LG might have a winner here is they made it like the Note 4, Metal for the overall body and leather for removable back.

If all the leaks are true (benchmarks, hardware ect. even design) I wouldn't consider G4 as major upgrade over G3.. Only thing I see as an upgrade is both Cameras. But it should be somewhat dramatically better in low light performance since G3 takes stunning pictures in bringt environment already. Also I hate that cartoonish look of new UI... Step backwards in that department for sure.

i owned g3 and i'm confidently saying g4 is by far better not only in the cameras but also in design and screen. and i do believe even on the battery performance g4 will do better.

It might not be especially if the bezels are even thinner than a g3. Check this g3 size comparison out.http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-G3-size-comparison-with-the-Galaxy-S5-Xperia-Z2-One-M8-and-others_id56347 it's practically the same size as the 5.1in gs5 and smaller than the 5.2in and 5.0in z3 and HTC one m8

Yeah it is but I don't think it would be that bad. I said I wouldn't like a phone bigger than 5.0 but then I got a note3 5.5in and I loved it but I went back to smaller phones tho.

The specs are obviously G3 specs as place holders. No red flag, they just haven't put in the new info...

I will definitely be picking up the G4 though, loved my G3; it can only get better!

No mention of of its SoC or LPDDR4
Meaning its most likely the weaker Snapdragon 808

Disappointing IMO
I was hoping for the Snapdragon 810 & LPDDR4 and a better kernel (e.g. with 1-2 A57 cores disabled or something like that to prevent overheating)
Or the Snapdragon 805

Isn't disabling 2 Cortex-A57 cores on a Snapdragon 810 the same as using a Snapdragon 808?

Is this the best they could do to minimise the overheating... pathetic imo... LG promised an 810... the Flex 2 came with an 810.. useless

The Flex 2 also has major throttling issues that made it lag like crazy.

Yep,
Also the 810 has the Adreno 430 instead of the Adreno 418 in the 808 (faster than the Adreno 330 in the 801, but slower than the Adreno 420 in the 805)

GPU and memory bandwidth are also important
Especially since the G4 is QHD
The G3 had issues because of its Adreno 330 and the 801's 14.9 GB/s of bandwidth

The 808 also has 14.9 GB/s of bandwidth (like the 801)
The 810 has 25.6 GB/s of bandwidth (like the 805, 7420 and A8X)

I always use earphones to enjoy media. I wanted it to be on the bottom because it fires sound out of the pocket when it is in my pants. And I always like the looks of the bottom of my G2 and iPhone 5.

Crap it going to be slow as crap over the s6
No ddr4, slow CPU when you link it to QHD, no ufs2.0 and adding the sd card reader ( nothing above said it comes with it) will make it even slower than the m9
