Acer to launch the Liquid Jade Primo – a Windows 10 flagship!

Seeing as Windows isn't the most popular mobile operating system out there, you'd be forgiven if you didn't expect to see another flagship smartphone running Windows 10, aside from the Microsoft-made Lumia 950 / 950 XL, any time soon. So, the smartphone that Acer just announced may come as a bit of a surprise, but it's a sleek-looking and promising surprise, we have to say!

Acer just took the stage at CES to unveil its newest member of the Liquid Jade lineup – the Liquid Jade Primo. It's the company's Windows 10-toting flagship, and it packs the hardware to prove it – a Snapdragon 808 SoC, with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, a 5.5-inch FHD (1080x1920) AMOLED display, USB Type C, a 21 MP main camera with a dual (not dual-tone) LED flash, and a wide-angle 8 MP selfie snapper.

A sleek-looking Windows 10 flagship that supports Continuum

Hardware-wise, the phone is pretty close to Microsoft's own Lumia 950, save for not having a QHD (1440x2560) display, and is toting a larger, phablet-level screen size. Thanks to its powerful specs, the Liquid Jade Primo also supports one of Windows 10's most exciting features – Continuum. Grab a Display Dock and connect a keyboard, a mouse, and an external monitor to your phone and you get PC-like experience with Windows 10's universal apps. Makes working on spreadsheets when jumping from one's home and office that much easier.

In terms of design, the phone continues the tradition of sleek looks that we've come to know the Liquid Jade series for. It's back is nicely curved for ergonomics and covered in a brushed finish, while the front is protected by a slab of Gorilla Glass, arched smoothly into the phone's corners. It will certainly catch the eye of those looking for some bling on a smartphone.

The Acer Liquid Jade Primo looks like a promising device for Windows 10 enthusiasts. Price and availability in the US are marked as “to be disclosed”, but in EMEA, the smartphone will launch in February, with prices starting from $620 (€569).

How is this better? Same CPU, less sharp display, we don't know if the battery is smaller or larger, but everything else is the same.

The Less Sharp Display Is Why It's Better. Better Performance And Battery Life Is Guaranteed Because Of It. Gaming On A Sd 808 Powered Devices Is Hell If The Phone Has QHD. You Can Take This As My Answer To Your Post#18 As Well.

This phone looks better (great) and it's cheaper. 1080p better for battery life and gpu power.

Acer has had a history of touch issues on their Windows tablets. Even though it's butt-ugly, I would rather take my chances with the 950. I'm sure it's a patch or two from alleviating the bugs it released with.

Touch Problems On Tablets You Say But This Is A Phone, Best Not Jump To Conclusions Just Yet. And Touch Problems Wouldn't Be Acer Fault, It'd Be The Panel Supplier At Fault.

Have You Ever Heard Of Quality Assurance? It Rests With The Manufacturer. I Know It's A Phone, But They Might Source The Display From The Same Vendor.

You Don't Have To Capitalize Every. Single. Word.

You are DEAD WRONG Because there are enough Windows smart phones owned and being bought by Folks to keep it alive and well.
When developers port more Windows 10 Universal Apps to Windows 10 Desktop/ Laptop, ultra books and Windows 10 tablets/hybrids.
Windows 10 mobile smart phones can use them TOO ! Windows 10 is a successful OS on over 200 Million computers of various types. it cannot be ignored like Windows 10 smartphones OS. Smart developers will make Universal apps that run on ALL windows 10 devices because it's a Juggernaut OS that will grow and grow and grow. There Aint no stopping it now. money is to be made selling apps in the Windows 10 store The Windows 10 mobile smart phone is the best smart phone to work with Windows 10 Computers

It physically cannot happen because Microsoft doesn't support Samsung's processors. Microsoft only supports Qualcomm Arm processors.

Your point? Samsung doesn't just use Exynos processors in their S line. Last year was the only time that happened.

Nice specs, but the phone looks dull and cheap. I miss HTC 's WP7 phones. They looked great and had nice build quality.

Looks okay, it still has acer's phones design language. But, 5.5" is a bit huge for my small hands :)

Better Than The Lumia 950. If I Wanted A Windows Phone This Is What I Would Get.

None Of The Hardware Is Better Than The Lumia 950, But The Phone Appears To Be More Expensive. What Is Better About This?

@Switch00 Then you're not the target audience considering you dig 'Beauty' beyond practicality which is quite immature, I'd add...

When I turn on my Windows Phone, all the notifications; weather, Emails, Tweets, FB Notifications, Reminders, To-Do's, Battery Level, Remaining internet data & everything in between is right at my home screen...

JUST ONE GLANCE IS ALL I NEED TO LEARN ABOUT EVERYTHING...

Please.... Someone... Give me an excuse to stay on Windows mobile. I am so close to just jumping on Android.

Microsoft- shore up Windows 10 mobile and get it back to the single biggest reason those of us use it still love it: It is smooth and functional. I can't go with it as is.

Acer- Put out a good product, get it to the States, I will give it a chance,
