I bought my 2021 Stylus 5G on ebay used. Since it's used the battery life is about 4/5 of a new phone, but that's still pretty good, since it has a 5,000MAH battery, it still lasts a long time.
The design is pretty nice, it's kind of sleek with the beveled edges. However, the phone is still big, slippery and heavy (so I am disagreeing with the pro review that said it is not). The back of the phone is slippery, and it's a big heavy phone. A touch too big for my pocket so I choose to carry it when I go somewhere. And that's why I have dropped it a few times. Once; even on concrete; the screen did not crack, but it did put a dent in the back of the phone when that happened. So I bought a case for the phone because of it being hard to not drop when you try and carry it around.
Motorola did a good job at optimizing the software, because this phone feels pretty snappy, fast enough. Like this phone gets a lower benchmark than some of my other devices, yet it's still faster when I use it compared to Samsung A14 5G as an example.
Yes I really like that is has the 3.5 audio jack and microSD card slot.
The Sylus itself, the pen, the experience with that is mediocre. Sometimes the stylus doesn't really work that good. Especially with certain screen protectors. and there is not way to adjust the touch sensitivity, which is too bad.
The camera is just so so; it will get you by, but it's not that great.
Honestly this phone almost feels and seems like a high end device just because it's big, and sleek and has a stylus.
The display is really big, yet only 60mhz refresh rate, yet it scrolls so smooth! Smoother than A14 5G.
Overall I'd give it a 8, but the value proposition is like a 9.
BYW; this phone ias faster than the 2022 Stylus which was kind of sloe in comparison. Do not buy the 2022 Stylus. If you do, make sure to get the higher amount of RAM cause the 2022 Boost version with just 4GB of RAM was pretty slow and so I sold it on ebay, and got a 2021 version instead.
The 2024 version is also very nice!
- Screen size
- Sleek beveled edges
- Battery life
- Heavy
- Bulky
- Slippery
I have had this phone for awhile. It still works and has a good battery life. It's all cracked up, has water damage and all but is still kicking. Lol
I had this phone for the last two and a half years and I must say that this phone served me well!
Display is large, bright and colorful and perfect with the stylus this phone tags along. I noticed 3 months into drawing with this phone, that the stylus tip faded away and got rougher to write with later on. One awesome thing that this phone comes with is last location the stylus is taken out, there are moments that I have lost my stylus but this feature helps me narrow my search and finding the stylus.
The 48 MP main camera is really good, sharp photos and high quality, plus high resolution so that I can zoom in. This phone comes a macro camera to take closeup shops and a wide angle camera, to get everything around you. I never figured out what the 4th camera did but online does point out it's a 2 MP depth sensor, so I'm guessing it's for portrait mode to determine the distance.
Battery life is excellent, the 5000 mAh battery lasted me entire days, even with extensive use, the phone would be at 20 percent at the end of the day. Of course time is a cruel punishment for phones and battery degradation is a thing but even through that, my phone can at least make it home with charge to spare.
The build of the phone is plastic, which is reasonable for a phone priced at this range, I am in love with the cosmic emerald color this phone comes in, especially with the angle the light hits the rear when it makes it colorful. The rear unfortunately picks up a lot of fingerprints, even case prints if you decided to protect your phone with a case.
UI is pretty excellent, very customizable and fast to work with. Motorola is infamous for lacking software updates, so it's always exciting seeing that pop-up for a restart, as it's so rare. They promise one OS update, which is a bit lame but some of us can work with it.
Overall, amazing phone, some areas can be improved upon.
TL;DR: Large display, comes with stylus. Battery life is great, cameras are good. UI is customizable but lacks software updates. Good looking phone, especially with the green color.
