Samsung's design for the canceled Galaxy S26 Edge might make a comeback. | Image by Android Headlines
The vertical triple-camera setup as become iconic to the Galaxy flagships and even the mid-rangers across the A-series models. That might just be about to change, however, as Samsung is reportedly considering a change to how its phones have looked for so long.

Samsung considering a redesign
According to a new report (translated source), Samsung is apparently reviewing the possibility of shaking things up for its smartphones. Particularly, the company is interested in maybe either changing the position of its rear camera island or modifying the layout entirely.
Might come to the A-series phones

If Samsung does go ahead with this move, then the redesign will likely make its way to the Galaxy flagships first. We could see this new design in action as soon as early next year with the Galaxy S27 series.
After that, the redesign could then make its way to Samsung’s A-series mid-range phones as well. The A-series phones also currently sport the iconic tri-camera setup like their flagship counterparts.
When Samsung decided to make the entire Galaxy S26 lineup resemble each other — with the same edges and rear camera bump — it unified the design language of its flagship phones. The company might just do the same with its more affordable offerings.
Not set in stone, but we can guess
Of course, this is still apparently just a consideration. If it does come to pass, though, it will be interesting to see which design Samsung opts for.
Commenters joked about Samsung adopting the large rear camera island of the iPhone 17 Pro, which doesn’t seem too far-fetched considering the design of the canceled Galaxy S26 Edge.
What’s more likely, in my opinion, is either a horizontal island like on the Pixel phones or a circular design the kind of which is seen on some flagships like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
What redesign would you like to see for the Galaxy flagships?
I’m curious to see where this goes
The vertical triple-camera layout has been a part of the Galaxy phones for so long that a different look will feel uncanny and bizarre. However, it doesn’t take long to get accustomed to something new, especially if it looks good.
I’m very curious to see where Samsung takes this, if it even does at all. I kind of hope it does, it might just turn out to be a brilliant idea.
