The next stage for Galaxy S26 users is almost here — but when will everyone else join in?
Samsung is moving faster than expected with the development of its Android 17-based interface.

Less than two months after opening One UI 9 Beta for enthusiastic Galaxy S26 owners, Samsung is now reportedly on the verge of releasing a stable version. That suggests the company is moving on schedule and will most likely launch the One UI 9 stable somewhere around the brand's upcoming foldable phones.

Samsung isn't quite done testing the One UI 9 yet, though. A July 6 post from an official in the Samsung community reveals Galaxy S26 owners will get the Beta 4 update next week.
More importantly, this could be the very last Beta patch before an actual stable rollout. In the post, the Beta Operations manager explains the South Korean tech giant will try to launch a stable version soon.
In other words, if the company meets no major bugs along the way, Galaxy S26 users may soon be given a stable One UI 9 release.

How much do One UI updates matter to you?
Who can get it?
What's more, the build version is currently open to select regions only: Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S.
That means the vast majority of Galaxy phone owners will likely have to wait for the stable version to roll out before they can try out the new Android 17-based interface.
This might be a hidden bonus, mind you, as few users have so far been positively surprised by One UI 9 Beta. On Reddit, some users have actually complained about sudden battery drainage and other unpleasant surprises.
While bugs are certainly common with beta firmware, we should remember why these builds exist in the first place. By helping Samsung uncover battery drain, performance hiccups, and other issues now, early adopters help the company deliver a more polished and reliable experience for everyone else once the stable rollout begins.
What's new in One UI 9?

- Samsung Notes offers more pen line styles and decorative tapes
- The Contacts app lets you directly access Creative Studio to set up personalized profile cards for contacts.
- Quick Panel offers more layout controls for customization.
- An adjustable Mouse Key speed feature is added to accessibility to give users greater cursor control. There's also a Text Spotlight feature, which improves the reading experience by displaying a selected text in a floating window or with a larger font.
- Enhanced protection features detect high-risk apps and alert users.
The big July news

Still, it’s hard to ignore the pace of One UI 9 development. In less than two months, Samsung has already rolled out three beta patches, with a fourth just around the corner. All of this is happening while the company prepares its answer to the iPhone Ultra.
Either way, I think the firmware development speed is impressive here.
