Thanks to this recent leak, we kind of already know how the Edge 70 Max will look. | Image by Digital Citizen
How wise is it to start teasing an impending Android handset literally at the same time that Samsung and Google have confirmed the announcement dates of their next flagships? Not very wise, clearly, but Motorola is seemingly confident that the Edge 70 Max will be good enough to overshadow or at least keep up with the buzz around the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Flip 8, and Pixel 11 family.
Of course, the most technologically advanced member of the Motorola Edge 70 lineup can't be compared to Samsung's next-gen foldables for obvious design-related reasons, but at least in one important aspect, the Max is now guaranteed to match the capabilities of Google's Pixel 11 or the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Max magnetic power
For starters, I should probably point out that the Motorola Edge 70 Max name is officially etched in stone thanks to this page on the Flipkart website over in India. That's basically the only market where the high-end phone is currently confirmed to be headed "soon", and knowing Motorola, a bunch of key details and specifications will be revealed in the coming days.
This is a pretty good starting point for the buzz-building campaign of a new high-end phone. | Image by Motorola
What's less vague is a promotional image showing the handset snapping to a wireless charger with "max magnetic power", which officially confirms a feature no other Edge 70-series phone supports. Not even the Motorola Signature comes with built-in magnets for MagSafe-style functionality, so this is definitely a pretty big deal and a major likely selling point for the upcoming Edge 70 Max.
What else do we know about the Motorola Edge 70 Max?
As convenient, cool, and fast as magnetic wireless charging technology can be, Motorola's next flagship obviously needs other stuff as well to battle the best Android phones out there for this summer's spotlight... and your hard-earned money.

Unfortunately, the only other details Motorola is ready to reveal right now are an outline of the handset's appearance seemingly confirming a flat screen with minimal bezels and a rather familiar-looking rear camera setup, as well as "improved NPU performance for AI"... although it's not clear compared to what.
Previously, of course, we saw the Edge 70 Max pictured in a few leaked marketing images in three decidedly eye-catching colorways, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor expected to run the performance show and a 50MP Sony LYTIA sensor headlining the triple camera system at the smartphone's back.
Are you excited about this next addition to the Motorola Edge family?
That's definitely enough to make me intrigued about the rest of the specs, but it also makes it crystal clear that the Motorola Edge 70 Max will not quite rival the raw power of the Galaxy S26 family, which is based on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
Any pricing or availability info to report?
Not just yet, I'm afraid, and because Motorola is only building buzz around the Edge 70 Max in India, I wouldn't count on a US or even a European release at this time.
As far as pricing goes, the aforementioned Motorola Signature with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 power and no magnetic wireless charging support is probably a decent starting point for any Edge 70 Max predictions... although other similarities and differences between the two models remain under wraps.

Depending on just how large the battery, how sophisticated the cameras, and how advanced the screen of the Edge 70 Max will shape up, the device could be costlier or cheaper than the Rs. 57,499 ($604) and up Signature. What's almost certain, though, is that this thing will be significantly more affordable than a Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, or S26 Ultra, which is why you should definitely continue to keep an eye on Motorola's social media channels and PhoneArena for additional official information soon.
