More phone brands are to disappear just like OnePlus, a popular tipster warns

Yogesh Brar doesn't name names (yet), but he wants people to guess.

The interesting times we're living in may strike again soon. We may witness more brands getting absorbed by their parent companies.

OnePlus is still around, but the popular "flagship killer" maker is getting consolidated with Oppo. The websites of the amazing OnePlus 15's maker are now pushing you toward Oppo, as we reported mere days ago.

Soon, more smartphone brands may follow suit and disappear from markets across the world, a popular tipster says.

But which companies?

Yogesh says that "like the recent OPPO group consolidations, there is one more brand that may get absorbed by the parent brand soon", without explicitly stating which one.

Per the credible tipster, the unnamed company's numbers "are not looking good", which means their sales are low in recent times.

And guesses there are, but people are torn in two. One group is certain that Xiaomi will absorb Poco, while the other group is hinting at a Vivo-IQOO merger.

Commenters say that both sub-brands of Xiaomi's and Vivo's have not been doing well in the last year and this could be the reason for the forced consolidation.

The OnePlus situation

While OnePlus isn't technically shutting down, the company's pulling from US and EU markets and is undergoing massive structural changes.

On the official OnePlus online stores in Germany, Spain, and France, banners have appeared that explicitly pitch Oppo devices (not just phones, but earbuds and tablets, too)as the natural alternative to OnePlus hardware.

While OnePlus is doing all it can to assure users that everything will be fine, we told you about a recent horror story that involved a European OnePlus customer and a faulty brick charger.

Instead of servicing or replacing the charger, OnePlus gave the customer a €100 ($114 when directly converted) store voucher as a compensation.

The situation quickly became frustrating. According to the customer, most accessories in OnePlus' online store are currently out of stock, and the voucher can't be applied to products that are already discounted – which happens to include much of the store's current lineup. In practice, that leaves him with store credit he can't meaningfully use and still no replacement charger.

Hopefully OnePlus resolves the issue, because replacing a charger shouldn't become a drawn-out ordeal. If getting a basic accessory is this difficult, it's fair to wonder how much more complicated a major repair could be.
