iOS App Store now has 1 million apps, 1 billion songs played in iTunes Radio
The iOS App Store may not have the most apps out of any mobile store anymore, since Google Play hit 1 million apps back in July; and, iOS may not be the dominant mobile platform, but developers still often publish apps to iOS first. Apple is getting into its iPad announcement event right now, and after announcing the iPhone and iOS 7 adoption numbers, the company moved on to the iOS App Store and iTunes Radio.
CEO Tim Cook says that the iOS App Store has finally hit 1 million apps in the store, which is up from the 900,000 apps that Apple announced during WWDC back in June. The App Store has seen 60 billion downloads, which is up from the 50 billion download milestone that Apple celebrated back in May. iOS developers are still raking in the cash as well, Cook says that a total of $13 billion has been paid out to developers to date.
One of the big additions to iOS 7 was iTunes Radio, and Cook says that so far 20 million people have already tried the service; and, 1 billion songs have been streamed in the month since iTunes Radio launched. That's a pretty impressive number.
