The Google Photos app seems to be broken for many Pixel users. Reports on Reddit claim certain actions, such as editing images, make the app freeze. There's no official fix at the moment, even though Google recognizes the issue.

The unlucky Pixel user describes how editing an image in Google Photos makes several features inside the app unavailable.
When cropping a photo in Google Photos, it appears that the share, edit, and delete/move to bin options remain visible, but tapping on them does nothing.
The issue is not limited to the Pixel 11 series
The thread is full of comments confirming the issue, and the bug seems to be affecting older Pixels as well. Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 owners chimed in to share experiences similar to the original post.
One Pixel user decided to replicate the actions of the original poster and reported: "I did exactly what you did. Took a picture, edit, crop, saved. Opened the photo gallery, none of the options are responsive."

Google offered help, but to no avail

A Google representative chimed in in the comments section offering help. They suggested clearing the cache, uninstalling Google Photos updates and reinstalling them, and even rebooting the phone in safe mode. None of these fixes seem to have worked.

Users were then redirected toward the Google Pixel support team, meaning the issue appears to be more serious than expected.

Google rolled out a big Google Photos update, bringing Gemini Spark integration and Moods. The latter is a package of different filters you can apply to your photos (even though Google says they're "more than filters") to change their aesthetic.
There was also a new "redact pen" feature to help users blur sensitive parts of their photos.
