The Fold 8 looks unlike any phone you have seen before. | Image by Evan Blass
From leaked press images to detailed spec sheets, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is hardly a mystery. However, since this wider book-style foldable introduces a new form factor, it's impossible not to get intrigued by every new glimpse. Marketing images usually stick to flattering angles, so nothing beats a real-world shot. And with Galaxy Unpacked just four days away, one has appeared right on cue, as is customary for Samsung flagships.
Straight from the brand ambassador
BTS member J-Hope recently shared a social media story featuring the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
While he didn't explicitly name the phone, the passport-shaped device perfectly matches the rumors. It's short and wide and sports the rumored Lavender hue. There are just two rear cameras, as expected.

In another photo, the device's hinge is also visible, leaving little doubt about what we are looking at.
Who nailed the short and wide design?
Breaking the norm
While the Huawei Pura X Max was the first bendable phone with a wide layout, Samsung will be the first mainstream brand to release a pocketable foldable.
The device is expected to be a smidge taller than the rumored Apple iPhone Ultra, but a little thinner and narrower. It will weigh just 201 grams, so it will feel lighter in your hand than the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Fold 8 Ultra.
A new design
Top-tier smartphones have been growing in size, leaving standard flagships or mid-tier devices as the only options for customers who prefer compact phones. The issue is even more pronounced with foldable phones, which have made it their mission to unfold into giant tablets.
By offering mostly high-end specs in a smaller footprint, the Fold 8 will be an ideal device for those who want a premium device that doesn't feel like a heavy slab.
