Reports from within the supply chain continue to make their way across the internet, with many believing that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be the last Flip series phone that Samsung ever makes. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is getting marginal improvements over the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Samsung allegedly believes that it can no longer improve upon the Flip lineup.

An outpouring of love for the Galaxy Z Flip 8

Given the grim news, we asked you in a recent poll whether you would get a Galaxy Z Flip 8 if it really did turn out to be the last Flip ever. A whopping 74 percent of you said yes.

And you didn’t just say yes, but you also said that you would be getting a Galaxy Z Flip 8 because clamshell foldable phones are the best type of foldables. With clamshell foldables disappearing already, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 would be a legendary last addition to a long line of some of the most excellent phones that the world has ever seen.

It would also be a souvenir for others

Not everyone is passionate about clamshell foldables, but they still recognize the value of the Flip 8 if it really is the last one of its kind. A little over 14 percent of voters said that they would get the Flip 8 just to keep it as a souvenir.

Lastly, only around 12 percent of respondents said that they wouldn’t get the Galaxy Z Flip 8 because clamshell foldables have never appealed to them. What about you?

Is Samsung discontinuing the Flip line?

Usually, by the time that the current year’s Galaxy foldable phones are this close to launch, the supply chain has gotten its hands on plans for the succeeding model. This year, however, no designs or plans for the Galaxy Z Flip 9 have been sent out from Samsung.

As such, many inside the supply chain have wondered whether this means that there will be no Galaxy Z Flip 9.

It might just be a temporary break

I’ve been thinking about this, and I believe that two things can be correct at once. Perhaps Samsung has actually decided that it can no longer improve its Z Flip phones, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve been canned for good.

It’s also possible that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is the last Flip for a few years while Samsung perfects some newer tech to truly innovate for its next clamshell foldable. Or, you know, maybe the company really has canceled one of the best phones it makes today.
