The Galaxy Tab S12 series launch might have just been revealed

This is when the Galaxy Tab S12 could arrive this year.

The summer heat is here, and so are the rumors heating up the foldable phone space. With the Galaxy Unpacked event just around the corner and the iPhone Ultra rumored to arrive in September, the season is already turning heads. But it appears that premium tablets may also arrive around this time. And not just any tablets: we're talking Samsung's next flagship slates.

A September launch?

A July 1, 2026 X post appears to have revealed the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup's possible launch schedule. According to the leak, the iPad Pro rivals are arriving by September 2026.

This would actually line up with Samsung's recent flagship tablet release schedule. If you recall, the South Korean tech giant announced the Galaxy Tab S11 series on September 4, 2026.

That said, while the information appears credible at first glance, we don't know just how trustworthy fireuniverse is as a source. The leaker has shared multiple rumors recently, but this particular claim hasn't attracted much attention yet, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Do we need it?

While Samsung keeps refreshing its tablet lineup each year, I still wonder whether the Galaxy Tab S12 series is arriving too soon. Judging by online discussions, many Redditors remain highly satisfied with their Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

In fact,  several users point out that the Galaxy Tab S12's release will simply mark the best time to grab a Galaxy Tab S11 model rather than jump to the latest generation.

But then again, prospective buyers undoubtedly exist. For them, the September launch window should be great news. It almost certainly means the devices will hit the shelves before the holiday shopping season, so there's a good chance of Black Friday promotions.

Coming for the iPad Pro

If the September launch materializes, the Galaxy Tab S12 series would arrive at a particularly interesting time this year. Apple recently adjusted the asking price of its iPad Pro M5 lineup and other devices to combat the 'memory crunch,' suddenly making them far less appealing for the average user.

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to include a bigger battery on the Tab S12+, as well as add MediaTek's premium Dimensity 9500 chip, pointing to meaningful improvements in key areas.

Whether that's enough to sway premium tablet buyers will likely come down to two things: pricing and the ultimate significance of these upgrades in everyday use.

Why I'd skip the Tab S12 lineup

My colleague Peter spent considerable time with the Galaxy Tab S11 and shared his impressions in the Tab S11 review. Undeniably, it's one of the best tablets on the market, and what I like about it the most is its relatively compact size.

That's exactly why I'd skip the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup this year, by the way. I'm simply not a fan of massive screens, especially on a tablet. Since Samsung is expected to launch only the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra, there's no rumored hardware upgrade compelling enough for me to overlook the larger form factor.
