Naturally, I’m also very happy that other innovations are taking place across Samsung and Apple products like,

• The Galaxy XR headset and Galaxy XR smart glasses
• Bigger and bigger batteries for both Galaxy and iPhone flagships
• Better apertures for cameras as well as a variable aperture
• Shifting cameras and other sensors below the display
• Improvements in how visible a foldable’s display crease is
• Faster wired and wireless charging speeds
• And unique features like Privacy Display, Horizon Lock, and Center Stage

But the fact remains that whenever a new feature is introduced, there is a more than likely chance that it will run into problems simply on account of being a first-generation entry.

Look at the aluminum chassis of the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro, for example. One short fall and your pristine, expensive flagship looks like it’s five years old.

Similarly, some Galaxy Z TriFold models saw their displays start to fail shortly after launch. The Apple Vision Pro, meanwhile, was an “over-engineered devkit” according to Hugo Barra, former head of Oculus, which is why it costs so much.

Yes, the iPhone Ultra is exciting. But…

I’m almost positive that the iPhone Ultra is going to sell incredibly well, no matter what price it launches at. Unlike the Vision Pro, this is an Apple product that millions of people have been wanting to get their hands on for years.

I still think that it’s also a product that you should skip if you don’t have a lot of disposable cash at hand. This is going to be Apple’s first foray into the foldable smartphone market, and I would not be surprised in the slightest if there are major, let alone minor, issues plaguing the phone for months after its release.

And this is just advice that I would recommend for any first-generation products coming out in the following years. Period. Apple’s AirPods with cameras? Avoid. Smart glasses from Apple? Avoid. OpenAI’s “iPhone killer” AI wearable? Also avoid.

First-generation products just aren’t worth the gamble, especially if the product in question is a huge financial purchase for you. Let the manufacturers iron out the kinks and let tech reviewers bug test these devices before you pull the trigger.
