The confirmation from Dr. Pak was quite clear, even though the Senior Vice President didn't hint at a launch date. “We are working on the next generation. I can tell you that,” he said.
The original Galaxy Ring was announced during Samsung's summer Unpacked event in July 2024, so the timing fits perfectly.
Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 — on July 22nd at a special event in London. After the confirmation from Dr. Pak, we could definitely see a Galaxy Ring 2 announcement coming in a couple of weeks' time, along with the foldables of the company.
What feature would make you buy the Galaxy Ring 2?
The Galaxy Ring 2 will focus on services rather than hardware upgrades

Asked about the hardware of the next Samsung smart ring, Dr. Pak stressed the fact that most of the smart rings have more or less the same hardware, and there's so much you can do with those sensors.
If you look at the comparison of other rings, regardless of the competitor, the sensors are not that different right now. It’s really about what services you create on the top layer. It’s really the software differentiation that you see. One device doesn’t cover all things, our approach is connected ecosystem, connected devices, that give people choices.

According to Dr. Pak, the real differentiator will come in the form of a better integration into the respective ecosystem. For Samsung, this could look like a web of interconnected devices sharing data to offer better context and more useful services to the end customer.
For example, Dr. Pak mentioned blending biometric inputs from Galaxy phones, smartwatches, smart rings, and SmartThings gadgets in order to understand better your daily habits and give you better health and well-being insights tailored to you and your specific situation.

One of the most interesting aspects of the interview is tied to the possible iOS compatibility of the upcoming Galaxy Ring 2. Asked if the Ring 2 will work on platforms other than Android, Samsung's Senior Vice President replied quite diplomatically, but there was hope in his words, and reportedly, he was smiling when answering the question.
I’m smiling, but I can’t say anything. I think you’ll be very pleased with some of the releases and the upcoming news.
Samsung Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team Dr. Hon Pak asked about a potential iOS support for the Galaxy Ring 2
Reading between the lines, we can assume that Samsung is considering expanding the Galaxy Ring 2 support outside Android. This makes sense, as Apple is yet to launch a similar product, and "infiltrating" the rival's ecosystem with a smart ring could prove beneficial in the long run.
If true, this will be one of the rare occasions where a gadget from one of the big duos bridges the gap between platforms and ecosystems.

There were no specifics regarding the Galaxy Ring 2 hardware or features revealed during the Forbes interview, but the rumor mill never sleeps. According to the latest rumors, Samsung is trying to extend the battery life of the Ring 2 to about nine to ten days.
The company is allegedly working on a thinner and lighter design as well to make wearing the Galaxy Ring 2 more comfortable. The potential upgrades include more accurate heart rate and skin temperature sensors, providing deeper health insights and other useful metrics.
As for the launch window, some analysts think that it's unlikely to see or hear anything official during the upcoming Unpacked on July 22nd, but we could still see a teaser at least. What would make you buy the Galaxy Ring 2? The fact that it could work with your iPhone, or the improved design and better sensors? What about the price?
