This model boasts a floatable design, allowing you to take it even in the pool. Better still, it's now on sale at Amazon for 38% off, which brings it just under the $100 mark.
It's not every day that you can find this speaker at such a low price. In fact, most promos I've seen this year have only brought the audio companion to about $120, so this is about as rare as it gets.
While this model looks nearly identical to its predecessor, this isn't necessarily a drawback. The original SoundLink Flex already nailed all the basics: design, size, and audio quality.
With this generation, you're getting a durable and premium-looking build, featuring an IP67 rating to protect it from water and dust damage.
Sound quality is excellent as well. Out of the box, this unit delivers mostly balanced audio, making it suitable for podcasts and music alike. Just a note: the companion Bose app gives you a pretty lean EQ, featuring a rather unimpressive three-band equalizer and a few presets.
Still, for most users, this shouldn't be a major letdown. After all, the sound quality is good enough even in its default preset, so you probably won't need to tweak it too much.
As for battery life, the SoundLink Flex 2nd Gen gives you up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge. This should be more than enough for a full-day hike, though listening at higher volumes could shorten its battery life.
Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend this model at full price, as there are multiple cheaper alternatives that give you more or less the same. But now, you can enjoy Bose audio for less than $100, making the SoundLink Flex 2nd Gen harder to ignore.
