Motorola Razr (2026) is getting the jewelry treatment again. The Motorola Razr - 2026 with Crystals by Swarovski joins the company's Brilliant Collection on September 10 at $899.99, which lands $300 under a standard Galaxy Z Flip 8. Nothing about the hardware changed, so this is squarely a design play, and among current flip phones those have gotten rare.
What Swarovski added to the Razr (2026)
Motorola announced the device this week, and every change is on the outside. The back is a PANTONE Meteorite finish with a quilted, leather-inspired texture, scattered with 35 hand-positioned Swarovski Silver Night crystals that catch the light every time you flip it open.
The hinge carries its own signature crystal cut with 32 facets, up from the 26-facet stone on last year's model. Motorola includes a clear case in the box too, so you can protect the back without hiding the thing you paid for.

We got our first look at the design last month when leaked photos surfaced, and the finished product matches them closely. Everything under that panel is the standard Razr (2026), so the 6.9-inch main display, Dimensity 7450X, 8GB of RAM and 4,800mAh battery all carry over untouched.

Why Motorola can afford a crystal-covered flip phone
It's easy to read this as a gimmick, but the market position behind it is real. A new report put Motorola at roughly 50% of the US foldable market earlier this year, driven almost entirely by the Razr, against about 14% globally after climbing from around 6%.
Counterpoint Research's 2026 foldable forecast fills in the other half, with Motorola at 8% worldwide behind Samsung at 32%, Apple at 25% and Huawei at 24%. The US is where the Razr genuinely wins, which is why a crystal edition gets a Verizon date rather than a global rollout.
Samsung has run this play for years, so it's worth checking where it stands right now. There were Thom Browne editions of the original Galaxy Z Flip and several Folds, plus Maison Margiela versions of the Flip 4 and Flip 5, though the last two Flip generations went without one.
A separate report says another luxury collaboration is in the works for later this year, but it points at the Galaxy Z Fold 8 rather than the Flip. Samsung's fashion editions also tended to be application-only in a handful of markets at a steep premium, while this Razr goes on sale at Amazon and Verizon like any other phone.
So if you're holding a Galaxy Z Flip 8, nothing here beats your phone on specs. However, if you bought a clamshell because of how it looks, Motorola is selling the look for $300 less and Samsung has nothing crystal-covered to answer with.
More on the Razr (2026) and Motorola's flip lineup:
Razr (2026) Swarovski edition price, release date and bundle
Here's how the launch breaks down:
September 10 on Motorola.com and Amazon at an MSRP of $899.99, with pricing varying by channel.
September 24 at Verizon.
Motorola.com buyers get the new moto buds 2 plus Swarovski Edition and a moto watch bundled at launch, for a limited time.
That last line matters more than it sounds. Last year's Brilliant Collection was $999 for the phone plus a set of Buds Loop, sold in limited quantities through Motorola.com and partner retailers, so this year is $100 cheaper with a bigger bundle and a carrier attached.

Motorola hasn't said whether this run is limited the way last year's was. The Ice Melt edition sold in limited quantities, so I'd treat this one the same way and not assume it sits on shelves for long.
Crystals are a fine way to spend a Razr upgrade slot
The 2026 Razr lineup was a light refresh on the spec side, so if Motorola isn't going to move the hardware much in a given year, putting the effort into something you can see is a reasonable trade. It should be noted that this is still the base Razr underneath, and anyone expecting flagship performance for $900 is looking at the wrong phone.
Of course, the part I keep coming back to is the price. A crystal-covered flip that costs less than a plain Galaxy Z Flip 8 is a strange sentence to write, and I'd love to see more of that kind of pressure in a category that has gotten expensive fast.
Mint Mobile is now allowing you to get whichever plan you like for either three, six, or 12 months for just $15/mo. If you go for the six-month unlimited service, for instance, you'll now have to pay just $90 upfront instead of $210.
