Samsung's Galaxy S27 chipset has just leaked in what appears to be its first die shot. While the surfaced image shows a 10-core SoC, similar to the Exynos 2600, it reveals a lot of other details worth talking about.

An image published by SemiAnalysis on X shows the Exynos 2700 chipset with a 10-core CPU, featuring two prime C2 Ultra cores, an AMD Xclipse 970 GPU, and an unusually generous 24MB system-level cache (SLC).
The core structure is quite interesting. As the above image shows, the two C2 Ultra cores could operate at different speeds. Here's a breakdown:
The 24MB SLC is another notable change. It could potentially lead to improved bandwidth efficiency and lower memory latency, possibly making the processor more power efficient during heavy AI tasks.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S27's chipset may be built on Samsung's SF2P process, and it may support LPDDR6 RAM, a major upgrade over LPDDR5X used in recent Galaxy flagships.
It's believed that the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ will feature the Exynos 2700 chip, although there have been some talks about the Galaxy S27 Ultra getting it as well.

If the Exynos 2700 comes with two C2 Ultra cores, that would mark a significant change compared to the Exynos 2600. This one, for context, debuted with the Galaxy S26, packing one Ultra core, LPDDR5X RAM, an Xclipse 960 GPU, and a significantly smaller 10MB SLC.
Although it's not clear whether Samsung will use this exact structure with the Exynos 2700 processor, if it does, the upcoming Galaxy S flagships could deliver a serious performance boost.
The addition of another Ultra core could improve demanding CPU workloads and give the Android phones more headroom for intensive multitasking. Supposedly, AI tasks would run faster, while the combination of Xclipse 970 and larger SLC could improve gaming.

The elephant in the room
Even though Qualcomm and Samsung have a long-standing partnership, the South Korean tech giant isn't contractually obligated to use a Snapdragon chip in its Ultra flagships.
Regardless of what Samsung ultimately decides (and exactly how much more powerful the Exynos 2700 ends up being), I doubt that everyone would be happy with an Exynos-powered Galaxy S27 Ultra.

I was looking forward to a Galaxy S27 Ultra with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro under the hood. But we've already heard just how expensive this chip could be, so adding it could easily result in an aggressive price hike.
On the other hand, if the South Korean tech giant opts for its own processor, it could avoid a sharp increase.
