You won't be able to buy iPhone 19 as Apple reportedly plans jump to iPhone 20 next year
To celebrate 20 years of iPhone, Apple plans a radical design change for 2027.

In 2017, to celebrate 10 years of the iPhone, Apple skipped the iPhone 9 series and jumped straight from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone X (using "X" as the Roman numeral for 10). According to Bloomberg, Apple will repeat this next year when it passes over the iPhone 19 and goes right to the iPhone 20 for its 2027 line.
There will be no iPhone 19 line
While it isn't clear whether Apple plans to name next year's model the iPhone XX or the iPhone 20, Apple does plan on making some serious changes to the product that in fiscal year 2025 accounted for slightly over 50% (50.36% to be exact) of company sales. The display will use curved glass that wraps around the sides.
The iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max, with codenames V73 and V74 respectively, will be powered by the 2nm A21 application processor (AP) known inside the tech giant as Naxos. This September, Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhone models that include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first foldable iPhone, which could be named iPhone Fold, iPhone Ultra, or something else.
All 2027 iPhone models should have 12GB of RAM to support all Siri AI features
In spring 2027 we should see the base iPhone 18 model released, carrying a 6.3-inch display. At the same time, we should see Apple ship the more affordable iPhone 18e with a 6.1-inch screen, and the slim and thin iPhone Air 2. All iPhone 18 series handsets could be equipped with 12GB of RAM so they can support every one of Siri AI's new features.
What rumored feature of the iPhone 20 would make you buy the phone?
While Siri AI will debut with the stable iOS 27 release expected this coming September, you can test it out now as part of the iOS 27 developer beta program. I've been using Siri AI since June 8 and iPhone users who have never used the Gemini AI assistant on Android will be very impressed with the new Siri.
Being a beta feature on a beta release, Siri AI is slower than the Gemini AI assistant at times, and occasionally Siri doesn't respond to a query at all. Still, it is early days for Siri AI and Apple will surely make the necessary improvements.
Apple tests a unibody slab of glass with no cutouts or mechanical buttons for iPhone 20 series
Bloomberg also reports that the A22 AP that Apple will use to power the 2028 iPhone models will be mostly manufactured by TSMC using its 1.4nm process node. Apple is also considering using Intel to produce some of the SoCs for the iPhone 21 line.

Returning to next year's iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max, these models are expected to feature an all-glass unibody design. Apple is looking to move Face ID and the selfie camera under the display glass, getting rid of all cutouts, eliminating the Dynamic Island, and creating a slab of glass. Mechanical buttons will be replaced with solid-state capacitive haptic "zones" that will be designed to work even if the battery is dead.
This will give the phone the look of a single, seamless slab of glass similar to the original idea for the iPhone that former Apple chief designer Jony Ive had in mind.
