Amazon’s latest deal makes the iPad Air (M4) the smart tablet upgrade

I may love the iPad Pro with the M5 chip, but I also believe you should seriously consider getting the iPad Air over it if you won’t be utilizing all the bells and whistles the Pro brings to the table. After all, it’s definitely a great machine, but it doesn’t make sense to spend at least $1,200 if you're only using the device for watching videos, browsing the web, and occasionally playing a game or two.

Plus, Amazon is offering a $99 discount on the 128GB iPad Air with the M4 chip, allowing you to score the Wi-Fi model for less than $650. Compared to the Pro’s price, you’ll be saving $550, all while grabbing a still incredibly capable tablet and one of the best slates on the market.

The M4 chip, for instance, is desktop-grade silicon that packs an insane amount of firepower and can still effortlessly handle demanding apps, games, and workflows, even though it’s no longer the latest M-series chip.

Beyond its serious performance, the tablet delivers awesome visuals, courtesy of its 11-inch LCD-based Liquid Retina display. Yes, the screen isn’t on the level of the iPad Pro’s Tandem OLED panel, but it’s great for the $650 price tag you’ll be paying if you pull the trigger on this deal before it’s too late.

I have two gripes with the screen, though: the 60Hz refresh rate and the 500 nits of peak brightness. While you can get used to the former, the latter might make using the tablet outdoors a bit tricky, especially on the sunniest of days. Indoors, however, everything is fine.

My point is that there are a few compromises you’ll be making with the iPad Air, for sure, but it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a capable 11-inch machine at a reasonable price and don’t demand the absolute best in terms of picture quality. So, if it fits the bill, don’t miss out and save while the offer lasts!
