Popsicle, Pecan Pie, Peppermint, or something entirely different – what will Google pick as the name for the next big Android release? We don't know, but the answer to this and many other Android P-related questions may be revealed in just a couple of hours.

Google I/O, the company's annual (and aptly named) developer conference, is set to begin shortly. The event will kick off today – May 8, at 10:00AM Pacific Time – with an opening keynote where we expect at least a few major announcements to be made. Most notably, Google is likely to unveil more details about Android P. A full unveiling this isn't going to be, but we a sneak peek at Android P and its new features is expected.

Secondly, Wear OS is expected to get some stage time as well. Formerly known as Android Wear, Google's smartwatch platform is expected to gain several notable improvements, including a tweaked user interface and better power efficiency.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Google I/O event without machine learning, artificial intelligence, and smart assistants being mentioned. We do expect announcements revolving around the Google Assistant and the company's Google Home smart speakers to be made. So yeah, the Google I/O opening keynote livestream will be one worth watching.
