Verizon pushes back LG Ally launch date to May 27th-or later
Verizon, for reasons that are unknown at the moment, has extended the pre-order period for the LG Ally to May 26th with sales beginning the next day. At least, that is the plan. Those who have already placed an order for the device are receiving an e-mail from Big Red that says that "initial availability" of the phone will be May 27th or later. Those last two words do not exactly make one confident that the Android 2.1 device will be definitely in customer's hands this coming Thursday. Those who pre-ordered the Ally are being told by e-mail that they are getting the first units released by the carrier, whether that is the 27th or some later date. As we reported, Verizon started taking pre-orders on May 13th with a May 20th launch date planned. The entry level Android device is $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a signed two-year contract. Verizon's web site still shows the phone to be in its "Pre-Order" period, but hopefully all of you who are waiting for the phone will have it in your hand by Thursday. In the meantime, while you are waiting, check out our review of the LG Ally.
