Verizon rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update to the LG G6
It looks like Verizon is the first US carrier to roll out the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG G6. Unfortunately, Verizon hasn't yet updated the phone's support page, so it's unclear what security patch the update contains.

However, we do know this is a pretty sizable update, as it weighs in at around 1.9GB, so make sure you have enough storage before attempting to download it. Thanks to a screenshot, we also know some of the changes confirmed to be part of the update: Picture In Picture, Notifications Visual Cleanup, and Notifications Badges.

Since Verizon has just started the roll-out of the update, it will take a few days for LG G6 owners to get it. If you haven't yet received the notification, you could go to Settings / System update and check for yourself if the update is available for download.

Now that Verizon decided to greenlight the update, we suspect other US carriers will start the deployment of the Android 8.0 Oreo to the LG G6, so stay tuned if you own carrier-branded model other than the one sold by Verizon.
