Unlocked HTC One M8 (US) is getting its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update within 24 hours
If you're in the US and you own an unlocked HTC One M8, you're about to receive an official update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Mo Versi, Vice President of Product Management at HTC USA, today confirmed that the update will be rolled out "within the next 24 hours."

It's worth mentioning that Mo Versi specifically talks about the US version of the unlocked One M8, so folks in other regions might not (and probably won't) get the update in the next 24 hours. Earlier today, we told you that the European One M8 is expected to be updated to Marshmallow in about two weeks.

Mo Versi further mentioned that the Marshmallow update for the HTC One M9 was also "coming soon." Several months ago, HTC said that both the One M8 and One M9 would get Android 6.0 starting the end of the year, so we hope the M9 won't be left behind.

As for US carrier variants of the HTC One M8 and One M9, these should be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow a bit later: starting early 2016.

Loved the phone when I had it, but could not stand how awful the battery life and camera was. Glad to see it updated so quick.

I wonder what will Sammy fanboys say now. You know, those who just yesterday tried to convince everyone that having 1 yest old software on release is nothing bad and that A series aren't most important phones for Samsung like A9 is for HTC who released it with 6.0 so they can update their flagships first and f*ck customers who buu mid rangers

On prepaid, is there any way to get this update without rooting? Hate to sell my M8 just to get an update from KitKat.
