Target puts the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 up for $299 this weekend, well, kind of
Looking for a decent Android tablet on the cheap? Well, Target might just have the deal you would not resist. According to a rumor that has surfaced on the web, the retailer will be offering the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 for $399 and will add a $100 Target gift card to the deal effectively dropping the slate's price down to $299.

If the rumor turns out to be correct, the special will be given the green light this Sunday, August 14. Adding a dose of credibility to the rumor is that insider photo of a promotional leaflet, which has the deal clearly outlined.

For those who need a reminder, the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 runs the tablet-optimized Honeycomb platform and is powered by a 1GHz Tegra 2 chipset backed up by 1 gig of RAM. Its display is 10.1 inches in diagonal and boasts a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, which puts the slate on par with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Add to that the 5-megapixel main camera and the 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and you get one pretty decent Android tablet considering the reasonable amount of cash that you will drop on it.

So, is the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 going to be your tablet of choice? If so, check out your local Target store this Sunday and if you can call yourself an ICONIA TAB A500 owner after that, feel free to brag about it by leaving a comment below. However, if in doubt, our Acer ICONIA TAB A500 review might be of help.
