Sony will announce something "slimmer, lighter, brighter" at MWC 2015 - probably the Xperia Z4 Tablet

Sony will announce something
Sony today promised to unveil a new device that's slimmer, lighter and brighter at MWC 2015. The company also posted a teaser image that seemingly shows a new tablet. Most likely, this is the Xperia Z4 Tablet - which was partially revealed earlier this week.

As already reported, the Xperia Z4 Tablet should feature a 10.1-inch 2K display (we don't know if this means 1440 x 2560, or 1600 x 2560 pixels, but either option would be nice). Moreover, the new slate should offer "leading battery performance", while being powered by "the latest ultra fast processor." Since Qualcomm recently mentioned that Sony would release Snapdragon 810-based devices this year, we're pretty sure that this "ultra fast" CPU that Sony's talking about is an S810.

Besides the Xperia Z4 Tablet, Sony will also introduce a new water-resistant smartphone at MWC: the Xperia M4 Aqua. Both the Z4 Tablet and M4 Aqua should be officially unveiled on March 2.

As for the Xperia Z4 smartphone, this will most probably not be announced in the next few months (it's said that Sony plans to launch the new flagship handset sometime in the summer). Whatever happens, we'll be here to let you know.

I like Sony products but they don't sell very well ... Just like the Verge said, Sony should sell all their divisions and keep only the Playstation brand.

It looks just like an iPad with the power button moved to the side.

Sony design in slim profile is 2nd to none. Tim the profile is correct though if they'll not advertise it properly to the right audience with the right pricing it'll not sell. Still Japanese design tech is way better than any other countries.

Yea, in fact Apple have a long history of not "copying" but "stealing ideas" from Sony IMO Apple got design ideas for the iPhone 6/6+ from the Sony Xperia Z series That's why I find it funny when people say the S6 looks like the iPhone 6, since they are both took hints from the Xperia Z series

Not at all... iPhone 6 and Z3 are so similar in design. Actually, iPhone 6's design was leaked as far back as April or May if I was not mistaken, so there was a possibility design could have been "inspired." But to say the S6 looks like the Z3 is just plain dumb.

What about the Xperia Z, Z1 and Z2 (all similar design) IMO the iPhone 6/6+ and S6 look very much like the Xperia Z (or Z1 or Z2) Not really a bad thing though, since the Xperia Z series look great I've always like the Xperia Z series design more than the Galaxy S series design But I am disappointed with the iPhone 6/6+ since I like the iPhone 5/5S design more than the Xperia Z series

20/20 vision and stand behind my comment. Bugsbunny00 also agreed it does in design so please direct attention that way too unless you want to be classified from a hypocrite.

Sell all their divisions and only keep the Playstation brand? Are you not aware that Sony is the largest camera sensor manufacturer in the WORLD, or that they had profits of 8 billion last year off Sony Pictures? Educate yourself please, and don't trust The Verge. They're worse than PA

Plus their bank and insurance company makes so much money, even with losses from other divisions, they are still hugely profitable.

No I didn't know that, If that's true then they should also keep the camera business.. My point is they should focus on divisions that make money

Yea, you might want Sony to keep their camera business considering Sony have been making your camera sensors for the past ~3-5 years

This is the best comment that I read from you. Your right Tim Sony should invest more at their division that makes profit. But abandoning the smartphone business is not a good thing especially to Android world. We all know that Sony makes good phones although there are some downside as well but hey all OEM has downside too.

You don't know Sony makes camera sensors for your beloved company? And yet, you call yourself "TimCook", no wonder people say iFanboys like you are blind because you only buy Apple products because of the Apple logo and doesn't give a s**t about what features it have.

sony should be given a chance to do a nexus. look at what happened with LG after they had a shot at a nexus device. sony should just consider lowering their prices temporarily, while they are still trying to attrach buyers. they haven't tried this tactic. LG tried it and it worked for them.
