Not giving up on the smartphone race, Sharp has launched a new smartphone for the Taiwan market – the Aquos Z2. Priced the equivalent of US $284, the new Aquos Z2 features a metal body with curved glass. It's powered by the MediaTek Helio X20 chipset and boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p resolution screen, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.
There are also a 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF, along with an 8MP front cam (f/1.8 aperture, 82-degree wide-angle lens) to outfit the photography department. The handset supports dual-SIM, dual-standby, and one of the SIM cards can be 4G LTE connected.
Running the mains is a 3000mAh non-removable battery with fast charging available via MediaTek Pump Express technology over the USB Type C port. The device can go from zero to 70% charge in around 20 minutes, obtaining 1 hour of talk time after 10 minutes on the charger. Alas, the port supports speeds only up to USB 2.0 spec. Interestingly, there's an IR port on top, and there are a fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers on the body.
