Samsung official says Galaxy S9 preorders are on par or a bit lower than Galaxy S8
Samsung hasn't yet confirmed any figures for Galaxy S9 preorders, probably because it's too early and the numbers significantly change on a daily basis. Still, word is running around that Samsung's new flagship may not be as successful as the predecessor.

An official from Samsung Electronics recently told South Korean media publication Yonhap News that Galaxy S9 preorders are on par or a bit lower than the predecessor: “we believe that the pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 are similar to that of the Galaxy S8.”

Apparently, officials from South Korean carriers aren't too excited about Samsung's new flagship because it's not much different than the Galaxy S8. On top of that, market watchers suggest that more and more people are holding onto their smartphones for a longer time, which significantly hurts smartphone sales.

Samsung Galaxy S8 set a new record for the South Korean handset maker with 550,000 units preordered in just two days, whereas the previous flagship, the Galaxy S7 came to only 200,000 units in one week.
