Samsung dominates AnTuTu's list of the world's most popular phones for the first half of 2016
Benchmark site AnTuTu provided lists today of the ten most popular smartphones in different regions of the world, for the first half of 2016. The global list was dominated by Samsung branded handsets as five of the top six phones were produced by the manufacturer. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 topped the list, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 rounded out the top five.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge finished sixth followed by the Meizu MX 5. The LG G3 managed to finish in eighth place while the LeEco 1s and Meizu Metal were ninth and tenth respectively.

Different regions obviously had different lists. In the U.S., six of the top ten were Samsung models. On top was the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, right behind. The Huawei built Nexus 6P finished third with the Nexus 6 in fourth place. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S7 were fifth and sixth respectively. The next two handsets were the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, followed by one of the OnePlus models and the Nexus 5X.

You can check out the results in several other countries including Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Russia, Germany, India, Vietnam and Malaysia by clicking on the slideshow below.

I'm guessing this is just for Android devices running the Android app. Otherwise - read post #3.

To be fair, this is a list of different phones that have run the app. Surely, the Galaxy Note 5 did not outsell the GS6, and by now, the S7/Edge has probably outsold the Note 5, and we all know that the iPhone unfortunately outsells any sort of actually GOOD phone, but those all remain absent from this list.

Not surprising you would say that because you probably live in a western market like the US and phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro aren't available. Therefore you've likely never used or even seen one. Your ignorance is clear and there's a good reason phones like the Xiaomi, Meizu etc are so popular, they happen to be very, very good and reasonably priced with epic battery life as confirmed by Phonearena's own tests.

Antutu is biased towards Xiaomi devices, Xiaomi high end devices are using Snapdragon 820 this year so it's geared more towards them. FYI - Founder of Xiaomi is also Chairman at Kingsoft, who have invested heavily in Antutu.

yeah right, people buy Mi5 just because its have top score on antutu, not because its the best-value flagship in this planet /s and if u ever try MIUI, u'll know that its so clean, lightweight, and almost no bloatware, no wonder if it can score slightly higher than the rest of SD820 user

I never implied anyone would buy the phone because of an Antutu score. Just stating facts., trusting Antutu results is like taking the Russian state owned news channel seriously. :-)

the fact that note 5 precentage is higher than S7edge and S7 combined, also mean note 7 will be a popular beast :D
