Samsung begins to roll out June Android security update
Samsung has begun to push the June Android security updates to its device line-up, even though we're still a couple of days away from the month itself. At this point, it appears that the Galaxy S7 edge is the first and only recipient, though we'd expect others to follow in the very near future.

This isn't the first time that Sammy has jumped the gun and released Android patches apparently ahead of time. Last month, the company furnished some Galaxy Note 4 owners with the May security enhancements. This time around, the edgy flagship seems to have won the updates lottery, though not all owners will receive the security bump immediately.

Those carried by Orange in Spain are reportedly seeing the June patch. Unlocked models of the S7 edge, along with the wider Samsung Galaxy family, will probably be drafted into the bonanza pretty soon as well. As ever, you can try and help things along by opening up the Settings app on your device, scrolling down to About device and checking manually for updates.

Has your Galaxy S7 edge gotten the patch yet? Let us know down below.

Why are you worried about it? Do you even use a Samsung?

Why the need? We've already got multi window. We've already got battery saving modes. Now on Tap, if you don't have it already, is a gimmick. etc. Would be nice, but... unless you actually have a Samsung, you really wouldn't need an update (besides security updates i mean).

I am sure I will get those unlocked phones from next time to get much faster updates than the carriers'.

I just got Marshmallow for my unlocked note 5 a few days ago so this update would probably take a few months.

By year-end I expect for my Marshmallow update. Thanks, Verizon (and the rest of plodding U.S. carriers)!

I just got a security update on my note 5 yesterday. Still don't have marshmallow though. But for me no biggie, I will get it when I get it.

Try sammobile, download the firmware and flash it through ODIN. Pretty straight forward process, with no data loss.

If at&t released it, then you will easily find it there. Did they not release it? Or is it just your phone that didn't receive it?

Every time I ping it, it says 5.1.1 is current.

T-mobile is usually the fastest with updates. My update came at the end of April.

Never.

Whatever. None of my Samsung devices has been updated in forever. They are the worst. Might as well get an unlocked Chinese phone. Same level of service.

If you buy flagship model phones, you will get 2 major updates. Everything else gets what is left, which is usually nothing.

I got an alert from the Smart Manager App this afternoon saying there is a security update and it turned out to be just 563 KB in size. I then had to re-login to gmail before i could access my mail. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A. Is that the update?
