Samsung Gear S4 gets certified by the ECC ahead of IFA announcement
Over the past two days, we have seen both the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy Tab S4 receive their certifications in the US via the FCC. And now, over in Europe, Samsung’s third major summer launch, the Gear S4, has received its certification via the ECC, thus signaling its approaching release.

As is usual with these listing, very little information about the device is actually revealed, although if previous details are anything to go by, Samsung may have some pretty big upgrades in the pipeline. Firstly, the new wearable is expected to include a much larger battery that will undoubtedly result in a significant battery life improvement. This is achieved thanks to the presence of a smaller processor. Additionally, the South Korean giant is rumored to fit the smartwatch with a new sub-display that will be hidden below a translucent rotating bezel, with each turn of this revealing a new menu that could be dependent on apps that are open. Moreover, in terms of actual features, improvements to sleep tracking and water and dust resistance are all to be expected on the wearable.

Aside from all of this, the Gear S4 may also come in two different sizes in a bid to better compete against the upcoming Apple Watch Series 4, while the launch of both a Classic model and more rugged Frontier variant is to be expected also. Furthermore, in terms of colors, black, silver, and gold options have all been rumored recently.

On the topic of release, despite initial reports of a launch in early August alongside the Galaxy Note 9, it now appears Samsung may actually be readying an announcement at IFA 2018 towards the end of the month alongside the flagship Galaxy Tab S4.
