Samsung Gear S3 chart shows compatibility with Android, iOS and Samsung devices

The Gear S3 smartwatch recently suffered a permanent price cut in the United States, which suggests Samsung wants to boost its sales before Apple or any other major player in the market comes up with a new product.

To make things simpler for less tech-savvy customers, Samsung published a chart that shows the level of compatibility the Gear S3 smartwatches have with Android, iOS and Samsung devices.

As expected, Samsung recommends using the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier with any of its Android smartphones for full compatibility. However, those using Android smartphones other than the ones made by Samsung are likely to get limited compatibility on some features like calls, messaging and email.

Regarding iOS devices, there are more issues here, as Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches do no support features such as email and Samsung Pay over Bluetooth, the chart points out.

Things are even worse on the latest iOS devices like the iPhone 7, as there are compatibility issues with notifications, messaging, email, and Samsung Pay. On top of that, the rest of the features (calls, apps, S Health, watch face) are listed under “limited compatibility.”

Great chart... I wanted to see this... I'm not an owner of any smartwatch, but this gear 3 watch is really nice... I think smartwatches should still look like fancy regular watch.

just got the s3 frontier, using standalone mode till I get my s8, For a smart watch with wi-fi I can't see why they is no auto set time/date. also i'm stuck with military time no am/pm mode. no app store so you really need a phone to put some apps/ watchface in there. also I hope in the future watches they use lighter materials like aluminum or titanium, stainless steel gets heavy in long wear.

Does not work very well with the iPhone, thanks to Apple's typical BS. Not having Samsung Pay was a big killer No one should try to use the Gear with an IOS device.
