Rumored Motorola DROID Kinzie XT1585 for Verizon gets benchmarked

Last month, we told you about two new Motorola DROID models that are rumored to be getting prepped for Verizon. One model is code named the DROID "Clark" and the other model is code named the DROID "Kinzie." The former has a front panel similar to the Motorola DROID Turbo with its 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution display, and will be driven by the Snapdragon 808 SoC. The "Kinzie," which sports a model number of XT1585, just went through the GFXBench benchmark site which allows us to pass along some of the handset's specs to you.

The Motorola DROID "Kinzie" features a 5.5-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution screen. That works out to a pixel density of 534ppi. Confirming earlier rumors, the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 810 SoC. The chipset features an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage. The back/front camera combo weighs in at 20MP/5MP, and Android 5.1.1 is pre-installed.

This could be Motorola's alpha DROID for the year with a bigger screen, newer processor and an improved selfie snapper up front. It should be interesting to see where the other DROID model, the "Clark," fits into this scenario. We have our ears to the ground and as soon as we hear more on the two DROIDS, we will pass it along to you.

Thanks for the tip!

Turbo HOT Turd! I love moto phones, but I hate the SD810 and over heating issues. Had the M9, loved it, but not the 'turning my pocket into an oven' feature.

Sony says that it's sending out software patches to fix the heating issues with their phones that carry that processor. Also OnePlus says that they're optimizing it so that it runs cool... OEMs seem to be pretty confident that the Chip can run cool if you do a little alterations to it. I'm holding back until the phone's released to pass judgement.

What happened to the 4.6 kinzie???? I was looking forward to a phone that was worth buying under 5inches. (That isn't Samsung!!)

Looks like this year there's no better option (in terms of soc) than Samsung (Exynos based) phones. And by looking at 820 benchmarks yesterday, the story might repeat next year.

I really just want Motorola to hurry up and unveil their new phones already. I'm desperately wanting to upgrade my 2013 Moto X to a 2015 model.

Meh, I'm gonna sit this one out. My S801 SGS5 is (still) more than good enough for now. Not to mention it's a real galaxy (removable battery and micro-sdcard). I'll wait for those Cortex-A72 devices. They interest me far more then this s**t.

Well, I'm still using my 2012/2013 Nokia 808Pureview as my daily driver. Nothing beats that camera, FM-transmitter or perfect call-recording out-o/t-box which are far more valuable to me than big screens and websurfing. Besides I can view porn on my 27" screen of my quad core PC too. :-)

Perhaps manufacturers should take a break this year heh? Produce no flagship phones (with S810) and skip 'til next year. I wouldn't mind ;-) More interested in Cortex-A72 devices anyway.
